All of which if I remember correctly he brought in... So it just depends which side of this coin you want to look at.

Re: Next Everton Manager
This is the argument for why sticking with Dyche would be better.
Maybe you have fun for a few months with the Mourinho PL revenge tour and stay safe. Then you have to sign a bunch of players he wants in the summer, when we should be conducting a complete footballing overhaul, before it inevitably goes south because those players and the ones we already have aren’t good enough for him. Now you’ve wasted a bunch of money and time to wind up in the same place.
He has no history of taking anyone but the biggest, richest clubs up the table. Even during our massive, club-ruining spending spree under Moshiri, we’ve never had the sort of clout to support someone like him.
Re: Next Everton Manager
To me, Mourinho’s approach has always been to bludgeon lesser teams with quality and drag matches into the mud against similar or even higher caliber teams.
We don’t have the quality to bludgeon anyone and we’re already playing backs against the wall all the time. I think you have to have some way of making matches easy when the opposition isn’t very good or has a bad day. The door was wide open for us against both Forest and Bournemouth and we basically gave them unlimited opportunities to have at us since we currently have no way of taking control, even for a short period, and applying legitimate pressure.
As much as I’d love all of the shit he’d stir up with the press, I think Mourinho is a disaster in waiting. Talked myself out of it right away.

Remember when he took over a shit Sunderland team and got them relegated for the first time in 10 years despite having a whole season to fix their problems?AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 2:12 pm Took over West Ham in a similar position and rebuilt them to the point they won a European trophy.
This summer will be a pivotal moment for the coming years and Moyes is very good by and large in the transfer market which we will need. Can't afford to get that window wrong.
I think Moyes leading the team out at Bramley Moor would get at least some fans excited because of his history with us.
Like I said wouldn't be what I'd hoped for but his experience and understanding of how to build a team would be a huge asset.

Yeah but Sunderland were a basket case of a club at the timeCereal Killer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 3:43 pm Remember when he took over a shit Sunderland team and got them relegated for the first time in 10 years despite having a whole season to fix their problems?

Oh hang on…
Re: Next Everton Manager
Sunderland was an empty husk of a club at the time. He was literally signing players simply because he knew them and they needed bodies.
We still have a pulse, at least. We have a DOF and some scouting knowledge, we've been making better transfer decisions even though the squad is still a bit weak, and we can put a PL quality eleven on the pitch even if pieces are lacking.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Surely it's not Moyes or Mourinho as the only options. There are other managers out there ffs.
Re: Next Everton Manager
It's where we are though.
As long as its until the end of the season and no longer I'm happy with Moyes.
This is partly the reason why I'm fuming with how badly Dyche has done with us this season.
Was hoping minimum he'd have us comfortably mid table so the manager issue wouldn't be an issue until the summer.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Yeah true but we are where we are. And if the money it costs to get a manager we want by far outweighs relegation implications then it just needs to be done.Cozzie wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 4:08 pm It's where we are though.

I'm talking managers already at a club.

Re: Next Everton Manager
I would be over the moon if we had made Sebastian Hoeneß from Stuttgart our new manager. We need a young progressive manager with modern ideas. Today football has become such a tactical battle and we are fighting with tactics from the 90´s.
If you don't know his kind of football here is an introduction
