Nearly 24 hours on, still bamboozled, baffled and bewildered by TT, like he had lost belief in his players - bizarre

I have not felt like this about England since I was a 9 year old in 1970 after the quarter final defeat against West Germany

Blew it then, blew it yesterday

The top reason to watch the third place playoff is that Mbappe might get the golden boot (although he won’t because Messi would still have one game to play)

Said before he started didn’t rate him didn’t want him….he had no CV to even get him an interview…yet the fa old farts club thought he was the messiah….got shouted down on many occasions over my opinion of him….
For me the whole finals from an England perspective was a shambles…got out of jail v Mexico and it bought him some cudos….never had a settled side for the whole campaign….didnt know his best players or side to start with….made some outlandish player selections…and finals squad selections…...sadly the chickens have come home to roost….
Get rid now before we start preparations for the next campaign….

I dont know how he survives this. Hes said its in the players DNA and no structure in the world could have saved us against Argentina. Hes taken zero blame and put it all on the players. Dont imagine theyll want to play for him anymore and hes already alienated plenty with some of his selections

Yeah, the day after and it kinda felt worse. Some combo of sad and mad with how it went.

I think it'd be easier to blame a mentality if it weren't for the subs.

Even if the players were retreating after the goal, I don't know if they were, but the subs weighed us down so we could never get out. You see a freeze frame of the two goals and it's absurd how we're lining up. So many players were barely out of the 6 yard area. There wasn't even anyone at the top of the box we were that deep. It started with the Konsa sub and just got worse from there. Why not put on Saka on the right? It's not like he's not plenty defensive too these days but at least he might run up the line too or buy a foul.

We also just let Messi receive the ball it felt like in acres of space because even with so many defenders most of them were camped in the 18 yard box so he had all day to pick a cross out before anyone closed him down.

I didn't even get to fully enjoy Gordon's goal as I was watching it on a 30 second delay on iplayer, and could hear the neighbours cheering FFS.

Same. I was having a piss when I heard everyone cheering and I thought “There can’t be that many Argentinians in the village…”

Still blaming the players for sitting too deep, nothing to do with his ultra defensive formation changes and substitutions

Bin him off now

One thing that stood out was how influential Messi became once England started defending deep. He was literally everywhere, and with his crossing and heading abilities of other Argentinian, not marking out Messi was a suicidal tactic. They pretty much did the same against Egypt too, they could have easily learned from that game. That cross for the 2nd goal, from his weaker foot, was just brilliant and at the same time Konsa couldn't clear the first man while trying to cross from his stronger foot at the end was so funny to watch.

We had a left back and a left winger plus a centre mid drifting over to Messi’s position on the right, so we could have 3 on 2 against Messi and their fullback supporting

Tuchel then decided that wing backs was the one as well as going deep and we basically ended up with Messi and their fullback being 2 v 1 against our left wing back. It was mental

I don't think it's just as simple as mark Messi, even with 2 or more players responsible. He is simply too intelligent in his movement that he finds spaces to cause damage in, even at the age and level of physical performance he's at now.

Biggest issue was thinking that the same tactic of backs to the wall defending that worked against a limited Mexico team who didn't have much beyond lumping it in to Jiminez would work against a far more technical Argentina team. Add Messi in to that mix and it was just a recipe for disaster, and it really is unforgiveable that it could be got that wrong tactically at that level of the game.

They're handing out rings to the winning team on Sunday. Not sure how I feel about this.

The analysis video I posted above really shows just how we nullified Messi pre-goal, and how we let him completely roam free after.

The difference is genuinely staggering and goes to really show how the tactical switch lost us the game.

A mix of trying to Americanize it as much as possible and then selling some to make more money

It’s shameless
