Nah, it's negligence to let that money walk out of the door again, 12 months on from TAA. Whether he's been in form or not, it's atrocious business.

I totally understand where you're coming from, it does seem completely futile.

Even if we did strike lucky and make all the right appointments, had a fantastic strategy, and everything went to plan, the best we could hope for is top 6, maybe top 5 at a push if others messed up.

It's a stupid system that regardless of what you do you'll never be able to break through to any sort of meaningful progress, and the chances of getting all your ducks perfectly in a row are really low anyway.

Pretty depressing really, but also I can't be arsed to be down and prefer the completely unrealistic positive outlook of trying to believe something good will happen eventually

I do wonder what happens when 14 or 15 of the premier league haven't won the league for 50 years or more. We are going to get to the stage where barely anyone remembers when most of the teams in the top league even mounted a title challenge.

Iraola is a risk for Liverpool btw, if he goes there. Far from a guarantee.

A lot of their fans wanted a more guaranteed winner like Enrique, and think/thought that an Iraola type appointment was a big step up. We've seen similar level managers like Potter and Thomas Frank not be able to make the step up to a bigger club and meet the demands there.

You can draw 6 games out of 7 in the league at Bournemouth, as they did in February and March this year. And it's not a big deal. You've got 11,000 home fans watching you every other week, and not much of a wider fanbase beyond that. You can't do that at Liverpool.

Also Bournemouth are practically living a fairytale in the last decade or so, look at their history, the majority of their fans will remember them as a bog standard third/fourth tier club.

Tbh when I made the thread , as much as I'd have had him here , 12 games without a win would not cut it here so even a six game poor spell would put him under it at Liverpool.

They need a rebuild and wages are a bigger lead weight for them than revenue and spend.

Of course he is a risk for them but every manager they take on is a risk as the expectations are so high. Some back themselves to make the step up and succeed but most fail.

He would have had less pressure with us as we're sadly on the level of a Bournemouth these days, although obviously able to pay better.

I do think we need a manager like him though that can grow with us under the new ownership, so all recruitment, scouting and progression is aligned. Moyes feels like he is straddling two eras which may wok for the immediate, and we may have to persevere with him until his contract ends, but we 100% should have some kind of strategic plan that doesn't involve handing the keys to the future to yesterday's man.

Our record also 13 wins..10 draws…the 15 losses killed us…however, look at the games we were winning then drew eg: city..palace…put just those two “wins” alone onto our points tally your looking at just 4 points difference…
All ifs buts and may be…..agreed but is he really that much of a miss? Imagine the fume if he has a similar record with them or for that matter us ?
The biggest point for me is he can manage a game..at least to a draw…we can’t….

I think it's more the context. He's a young, up and coming exciting manager, that plays football the right way. Bournemouth are Bournemouth, but if he translates that to the shite they should have a good season watching good football, whereas we'll be stuck watching a dinosaur that's not even interested in entertaining the fans or playing with the ball.
Another thing is their ambition, they had a poor year by their standards, albeit still qualified for the champions League, but they were decisive and acted upon it, we just look like we accept the hand we're given.
