Is it though? He just can't hack a big job.

Burnley was fine because they'd win 4 home matches a season and nobody cared. There'd be no pressure from the home fans. They were happy with staying up by any means possible. Can't get away with that here.

Sounds more to me like he threw his toys out the pram because he was asked some tough questions. He's reeked of insecurity in every press conference with his defensiveness, so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that he's threw the towel in.

Or maybe just the insane stress of last season has left its mark on him and he could no longer face the challenge. He wouldn't be the first and certainly not the last to suffer the aftereffects of being put under too much pressure at work. Stubbornness won't help you there either.

I think you might be mistaking being being a bit of a dick with strong willed

I don't think he handled the expectation of improvement very well. Like Shogs said its completely different at Burnley.

And last season we were expected to go down with the deductions. The season before too, it was a free hit for him.

He did an amazing job both of those seasons, probably better than anyone else out there that we could have got.

But this season, where we wanted to push on and not be in a relegation dogfight, he buckled, tried something new, it failed (Bournemouth H) and he closed up. He basically froze, in a Dyche-like state. Completely showed himself to be out of his depth at a club with ambitions above being happy to survive on the last day.

We don't really know what's gone on though tbf, he may well have said this is as good as he can get out of this group and that he needs 2-3 players to achieve more. We've said we can't do that and then sacked him as it was cheaper than buying players for him we couldn't afford.

All speculation isn't it? Whatever has gone on it's clear they've not been willing to accept this is as good as we could do so it's good they've moved quickly to change it.

If it's Moyes though we'll still see DCL running channels and Tarks hitting long diagonals so it won't exactly be a revolution of style, hopefully it'll be more effective though.

Think that's what the meeting was about on Monday, to discuss January business. Clearly things went south pretty quickly and the decision was made to move on from him.

When he constantly referenced not scoring and it being an issue as long as he's been here then it's a bit of an admission that even 2 years in he doesn't know how to fix it so there wasn't a chance he was suddenly going to manage with 6 months to go.
