DCL is nowhere near the worst striker we've had, but he's also one of the most over hyped Everton strikers of all time. The truth is he's got some really good points, but what you really want is someone that's competent in front of goal, and he's poor. I don't think the task for Broja is that significant to replace him, but I think it would be wrong to do that after 8 minutesbrap2 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 9:22 pm Dave Downie reckons this guy has come in with his 8 minute display and cemented his place as number one choice, with DCL having 'mostly terrible' games for Everton.
Is this really what people think? I know people moan but like, are you seeing that also?

Maybe I should just stop listening to this crap tbh.

Over hyped! Excellent stuff, what's he been touted as? How good?Raptor wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 9:36 pm DCL is nowhere near the worst striker we've had, but he's also one of the most over hyped Everton strikers of all time. Just the same as when Beto comes on late against tired legs and with the game stretched. Sure they look good but it's not really any sort of reflection on how they'd do starting when the game is tighter.brap2 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 9:22 pm Dave Downie reckons this guy has come in with his 8 minute display and cemented his place as number one choice, with DCL having 'mostly terrible' games for Everton.

Was a good cameo but people go way overboard when an attacking sub looks good when coming on towards the end of a match.

Re: Big Bad Broja
Beto still looks poo against tired legs. Broja showed in 8 minutes that he has a brilliant touch, is a willing runner with the ball, can hold a run when the ball isn’t played and can stay onside, and makes things happen. Delivering that consistently is the challenge but I don’t think Beto’s even looked promising.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 9:48 pm Just the same as when Beto comes on late against tired legs and with the game stretched. Re: Big Bad Broja
My prediction, because this is Everton.
He will play well for Dyche, so well that we basically have to exercise the option and buy him. Meanwhile, we’ll sack Dyche and hire a manager who wants a completely different type of striker.

Re: Big Bad Broja
I think he’s a lot more versatile than DCL, Beto and a lot of other strikers. I’d be more worried about his injury record but if he stays fit and does well it’s a decent price for a striker.
Regarding DCL I think at his peak he was very good at a few things, but mainly jumping really fucking high. Liverpool goal aside we’ve not seen that. Probably lost a bit of jump and a bit of pace with the injuries and that small change can make a big difference at the top
Re: Big Bad Broja
There's been the odd occasion where he's looked ok against tired legs and then people jump on it to say he should be starting, which he then does and looks a million miles off it. But yeah it's usually just pure power and strength whereas at least Broja looked like he could control a ball and made some decent runs.Bornblue88 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:23 pm Beto still looks poo against tired legs. I don’t listen to the podcasts but I’m on the Everton Reddit and they fucking hate him. Top voted comments are always about how he’s the worst striker in the league and he’ll go on a free to the championship etc yet somehow we should also cash in on him for £20m in January.brap2 wrote:Dave Downie reckons this guy has come in with his 8 minute display and cemented his place as number one choice, with DCL having 'mostly terrible' games for Everton.

Reddit leans heavily American so there’s lots of casuals on there, they seem to really rate Dyche too

Yeah, Everton Reddit is a weird place. Although I see plenty of hatred for Dyche too, not very much in between those extreme ends of the spectrum though.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 8:11 am I don’t listen to the podcasts but I’m on the Everton Reddit and they fucking hate him. Re: Big Bad Broja
I think we potentially see him for 30 minutes vs Arsenal. Can't play vs Chelsea so wouldn't be surprised to see us get him on earlier next weekend.
