Re: Pickford
Outside of major summer tournaments, international football ceased to matter quite some time ago.
Re: Pickford
More concerned with how shite he's been so far this year for us.
Got to be something in how poorly rated he is outside of Everton tho.

Re: Pickford
Leno is a fan!!

Fulham keeper Bernd Leno gave a savage reply when asked where he would place Jordan Pickford, during a blind ranking challenge conducted by Sky Sports Germany.
The German only had fourth, sixth and seventh to choose from as all the rest were already filled.
With a smirk, he brutally said “20!” before quickly retracting his statement with a laugh, adding, “I’m joking!” He could not contain his laughter, as a woman in the background could also be heard laughing.
Ultimately, Leno settled on placing Pickford in the seventh position. However, when asked to rank himself among the selected goalkeepers, Leno humorously removed Pickford from the list and replaced him with himself.

Re: Pickford
Pickford is by far the least of our problems,
Some on here need to stop listening to the shite the media come out with
We would have been relegated many times over without him
Fuck me if we believed the media Branthwaite is worth 35p
Give ya heads a wobble

Re: Pickford
No, but what's the point? He's still above average, and we don't have a better keeper. We certainly won't be splashing cash on a new keeper with holes all over the outfield.
Re: Pickford
He's rather universally thought of as a bit of a liability isn't he? Is that read incorrect? Who is the best voice on goalkeeping?
I think he was great for 2 maybe 3 years there which is an incredible run of form. He does seem to have regressed to his previous at the moment though I would say.
Re: Pickford
I'm genuinely interested in who thinks he's poor though, and I know I'm not exposed 24/7 to the media you guys get (especially Sky) so am probably a bit out of that loop. I'm not really interested in a Lee Dixon or talksport commentator though, but those with credibility and investment in accuracy.brap2 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:45 pm He's rather universally thought of as a bit of a liability isn't he? I value the likes of those who manage teams Pickford represents (some of whom will have their own biases of course) and people that are employed on performance, etc, above ex players and commentators and the like that may need to add spice to a discussion, or align themselves with fanbases, in order to continue to receive a paycheck. 'Short armed vampire' type comments from only slightly more credile sources for some is money for old rope and muddies perception and unfortunately becomes, as @Toddacelli mentioned, the memorable narrative for most.
On Pickford himself, I think perhaps the current period, and the bad spell a few years back are more the exception to the rule, rather than the rule itself.
To have such a sustained level of strong performances over the intervening years suggests this. Everyone can have blips, of their own or others making, below their usual level, but to be consistently good for so long suggests that's his level, for me anyway.
