But when he's the only one who's come through in years, the fans love him, he's clearly massively talented and with the historical trauma of Rooney etc, it would display a fundamental misunderstanding of the fanbase to sell him.

It would make the relationship with the fans beyond repair, almost no matter what we do on the pitch in the future.

Still hopeful it won't happen, and would assume Moyes is advising very strongly against it.
Yeah, I think as fans we can understand the business side of things when it comes to selling players.

There’s been no uproar in selling Illiman. We all understand it’s a great move for him, and we’re making a big profit on a player we signed for £15m. We’re maxing what we could ever get for him.

If in the future a club lashed £80m down for Armstrong the reaction would be similar. Is what it is, but it works for everyone.

This doesn’t work for us at all in this current moment. He’s going to be worth double what we’re selling him for, we’re short in that area of the pitch, and we’re struggling to sign players.

The optics of it are off the charts bad and as you say, the board won’t ever recover from it.

For all you know Friedkin might have said tell them to piss off !
Look at the Moyes quotes, look at what’s being reported by very reliable journos.

No point in trying to deny the club aren’t at the least seriously considering it.

I have no idea if they are seriously considering it, I guess we will all know by Monday.

If they’d told Forest to do one, it would’ve been reported by now

You can’t know that, are you privy to any discussions that may or may not be taking place ?

I’m privy to what the manager said after the game - who confirmed an offer had been made and didn’t say it had been rejected, nor did he say he wouldn’t be sold. If he’d known he would have said so. As has already been said we’ll know by Tuesday won’t we.

Actually for once I think it is.

I was starting to feel genuinely depressed by this and most other things to do with Everton, but I think this might just help.

I think the club thought fans would think 40 million was good money, the media are touting it that way as well. They should educate themselves about the fan base a bit, no one would be happy with the sale. Hoping they get that but shouldn't need the lesson in the first place
