George, looks good and exciting but I wonder what his numbers will look like over the course of a season.

Dibling, looks well off it, loan and replace ideally

Grealish, 31 off the back of a six month injury.

Johnson, will frustrate if we have to rely on him to start a lot of games

Definitely need a winger who we can trust to perform over the course of a season.
Fair, but that's sort of the situation we're in.

If we do get Grealish + another winger then we absolutely have to get a loan move to Dibling where he will get good minutes.

Grealish + New RW with George and Johnson as backup would be a good option.

If Pickford gets injured, are we happy with the back-up? No RB, Mykolenko/Aznou at LB, CBs, Armstrong/Hackney/Norgaard in midfield, Barry/Beto up front.

If they don't get a RB and replace Ndiaye/JOB, for example, they'll be huge cock-ups. But it doesn't really matter what business we do between now and the end of the window, some people will always expect more and use it as a stick to beat the Moyes/the hierarchy with.
I just don’t think those wide options without ndyiae are as good as others think.

If we’re selling him for big money, I think we should replace him using that money.

So, yeah, if they don’t get a right back and another wide player on top of Grealish I’ll criticise them.

They’ve got £80m coming their way, they should have been expecting this to happen and should have deals lined up to use that money wisely.

Well they won't be buying both him and Doue - especially as Hakimi is first choice anyway

Yep.

Dibling looks well off it to me. Don’t think moyes will trust him to play many minutes in the league so we have to be looking at loaning him out and getting someone else in

I’d probably loan him out either way tbh. It’s looking like another wasted season for him if he’s still here.

Anybody else not into the jack coming back here I would rather spend what money we have on a right back and get a striker and center back in on loan

It'd all hinge on Dibling, wouldn't it? If Ndiaye were to go and Grealish were to join, we'd have 4 wide options - regardless of how good we think they may be (and I think we're all on a similar page), there would be other priorities for me before getting another winger.

Personally, I'd agree with a loan for Dibling and bringing in someone else - even if only on loan. But if we keep Dibling and invest in his development here by actually giving him game time, even as a sub behind the other 3, then I wouldn't really have a problem with it.

RB, replacing Keane/JOB if they go, same with Beto, and a LB would be higher up my list.

Moyes singing Rohl praises at rb just.... Might just be to suggest to Palace we're not having a bidding war with Forest.. or taken at face value, to break the news on going with what we've got gently.

Why have we waited until the end of the window to even try and bring a RB in.

I don’t buy the excuses and explanations from Moyes and the CEO. Even if this gets done now, it should have been done weeks ago.

It’s all about money and their lack of willingness to pay what’s required. But, this should have been budgeted for months ago. They should have had a warchest to sort out this position, and then also think about candidates in the squad that they might want to sell to fund it.

It’s really not rocket science. They have made it into a real scramble now before the deadline. Like others have said, there will be a massive fallout if no RB is signed.

There's been a horrendous lethargy from the club for years and years, and under different owners.

Completely get that there are limitations as to what we can do, but it's just absolute groundhog day at the moment - that sinking feeling at the end of a window where you just know we're not going to have done what we needed to do. That you're going to have to accept that Rohl at RB is a reasonable solution to the RB issue.

Against the positive start to the season the pitch, it just feels like such a dampener.

Although I do agree the RB situation is daft, I am going to be a little sad if we lose Rohl from that position.

As he needs minutes, he is showing signs of improvement, he has the attributes and is a good and willing runner which as a team we benefit from.

I doubt he gets as much a look in in the middle as we have so many others in that space.

So, it’s a bit of a shame from the POV that for once the “go with what we have” option is not entirely without merit..? The previous seasons though have pretty much poisoned that thought process though.

Yes it's true but also I dunno, maybe only partly?

The only players we've signed outside of Rohl's required transfer are:

George - loan ended, negotiated a £7m reduction in fee to make a permanent signings.

Norgaard - £7m

Johnson - £0 / swap for McNeil

Hackney - £16m

So really we've not spent much and had to address other areas too, such as completing permanent loan signings, and moving quickly to secure a ball playing CM that wouldn't have been available later in the window.

We may well have been able to move on an RB if we hadn't signed George and Hackney, but I'd argue that completing those deals quickly was more important than the RB situation at that point in the window given they'd be signed by someone else otherwise.

It's really frustrating not signing a right back, and I think the worry is that we don't actually do so. However I think the idea we should just have done it ages ago doesn't reflect our tight finances, and how we'd have missed out on other key signings if we'd spent that money on a RB.

I'm not making excuses here though, we absolutely must sign a good RB this window, it's a non negotiable. Failure to do so is a damning indictment of the transfer committee and manager of we don't. I just don't think necessarily our finances allowed us to move in the market as we'd all hoped and wanted.

It's a juggling act, and as long as by the close of the window we have a good one then that's all that matters.

BJ is back up striker.

Can’t see us getting in another unless we sell Beto.

All fair points, but £20m over 3/4 years worth of amortisation (if that’s still the way it works) isn’t going to break the bank.

I think this comes down to a mixture of dithering, being tight, lack of an extensive scouting network outside of the UK and perhaps a bit of bad luck as well.

By the way, outside of the RB situation, I think our business has been good. Really like Hackney and George especially, but I just genuinely cannot believe we do not have a quality RB to speak about, who should have also had most of a pre-season. It is just Groundhog Day.
