Re: Brennan Johnson
Can't remember where, but I read somewhere that Palace are playing 3-4-3 with their new manager, and they want someone on the left to supply crosses for Strand Larsen/Mateta. You could see McNeil doing that to a decent standard to be fair.Shogun wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2026 2:17 pm If you compare their careers and stats then Johnson is obviously the better player. McNeil isn't cut out for this level and I've absolutely no idea what Palace are seeing in him.
I do worry where the goals are coming from in our team outside of KDH, so it's a positive sure.
Re: Brennan Johnson
Well, Palace fans think they are getting the better deal. I think it's safe to say Johnson is not liked very much. Ineffective, anonymous and lazy is the general vibe.

I still think he's a good player and has a much bigger potential upside over a plodding McNeil.

Two European trophies in a row as well.

Our own fault if we give him time and space to line one up.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2026 2:55 pm Can't wait for McNeil to score a worldy on 22nd august
His left foot is beyond reproach but his ability to get into good positions to use it has steadily declined every year he’s been here.

As far as a straight swap goes...

Re: Brennan Johnson
Which is fine in theory but he seems to get slower every year with very questionable effort levels (for whatever reasons) last season. He's the sort of player Moyes likes and he was still dragged off at HT several times last season.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2026 2:26 pm Can't remember where, but I read somewhere that Palace are playing 3-4-3 with their new manager, and they want someone on the left to supply crosses for Strand Larsen/Mateta. Maybe Palace will light a fire in him but I find it hard to believe there's a Premier League player in McNeil these days.

Re: Brennan Johnson
I’d be way more into this if we had a manager who used the squad, but Moyes just doesn’t really.

Let’s hope we get the Forest Johnson because we need the pace.

Re: Brennan Johnson
I wouldn’t want us to go out and buy Johnson for cash, but if this is something palace have proposed then it’s simply something you can’t say no too. Even if he doesn’t work out you’ll sell him for more than you would McNeil with a year left
