It’s just very Everton isn’t it. It’s a low risk decent signing, that if we got in on deadline day after doing all our business it has a lot more favour.

Adds to the spine, helps composure. Probably isn't demanding to be starting every game. Good experience and a level head. Helps us keep the ball (which as weve seen today is still a problem at times). Tidy in posession. For 7m I'm pretty happy with that, especially given Rodri probably wasnt available.

It’s not inspiring but I can’t be bothered getting worked up about this.

He’s a good PL DM who raises the floor for us massively this season.

We have inferior players elsewhere in the squad who could be sold for more today (Tim, Charly).

We have assets who can be cashed to have a run at someone with a bigger upside in the future (Garner).

All that plus he’s a model pro who our young midfielders can learn from.

This is not a squad building disaster by any means.

I'd say as bland as it may seem, Norgaard and Johnston improve us over last season.

One sits properly and will give us the positional discipline we need in CM, and the other is an actual RB that not only knows how to play the position, but has the knock on effect of JOB at CB instead of Keane.

For an outlay of around £22m for both, given we seem unable to spend anything meaningful, is as good as we can probably hope for.

Doesn't mean I'm advocating these signings over better, younger players,.but I think there's a fairly big disconnect between people's wants, and what the club can actually spend.

It was probably an easy one to conclude and quick. Arsenal wanted rid as he's not good enough for them, they're also getting Guimeras, he probably wanted to play, were desperate, job done

Very good player. 7m for a solid player for 2-3 years isn't a bad deal. We can do with some experience in the middle.

Also feel we will see a lot of Rohl and Garner at RB, considering how many CMs we have currently.

If you expect us to compete for players Arsenal do want it's going to be a few years before you enjoy a transfer window again, if ever.
