For the current 2025/26 season, Saudi Pro League clubs can register 25-player squads with up to 10 non-Saudi players:
8 senior foreign players with no age limit
2 additional foreign slots for U21 players born in 2004 or later
Of these, 8 senior foreigners plus 2 U21s can appear in matchday squads — so effectively all 10 registered foreigners can be involved on matchdays, though only a set number can actually be on the pitch at once (typically limited to around 8 starting/playing at a time under most club selections).
Worth noting: Saudi football authorities have reportedly been debating further changes to loosen these limits even more — one proposal would allow up to 10 foreigners on the pitch simultaneously, another nine with one excluded, and a third keeping it at eight with two on the bench. With Ndiaye out we have lost both our wingers from the start of last season, our best defensive midfielder, extended the contract with our to worst defenders, lost our captain, have no faith in the only right back in the squad (which is reasonable) but still lots of faith in our left back which is no better than the right back.

Garner is injured but who the h.ll cares as long as Championship Hackney can replace Dewsbury-Hall who surely can be a deputy right back, defensive midfielder and winger - maybe even at the same time.

With the signing of the 23 year old german photographer whose friendship with Leighton Baines has made him a full-back during pre-season, our problems at both sides defensive has been erased.

Still - our best signings - as usual - will be the players we didnt sign! Branthwaite back from injury will be like a new signing until he gets injured again and if Moyes just double his faith in Dibling and George they will rack up at least 7 matches this season.

And with Ndiaye out for 60-70M that means we will manage to do that without using or earning any money...This rebuilding they started last year is flying people - soon we have got rid of all the quality we had!

In the bigger picture I agree with you - but with this squad a new and progressive manager would for sure send us down. With this squad we need Moyes to keep us from relegation. It wont be pretty, not entertaining, never convincing but he probably find some shitty way to make us survive.

I also think people are a bit disrespectful to the Saudi league. I'll admit I haven't watched lots, and the depth or history clearly isn't there, but Al Hilal would piss all over us from what I have seen
It's still and emerging entity, but they will get exposure in some competitions and it will grow for sure, but there are some really talented teams and individuals in that league

Just a shame about the horrendous lack of human rights hey!
