World Cup 2026
Re: World Cup 2026
I just can't stand people sending a team out with their only intention being to try and knock fuck out of the other team

Guehi could miss Norway game with hamstring injury
England defender Marc Guehi is managing a slight hamstring injury and could miss the World Cup quarter-final against Norway.
Guehi complained of a muscle issue following England's win over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
Initially it was hoped that the defender was carrying muscular fatigue and that he would be fit for the game against Norway on Saturday.
But it is understood the Manchester City centre-back has a hamstring strain.
It now remains to be seen whether Guehi can train with the squad on Friday.
If he cannot, then there will be major doubt over his inclusion against Norway.
The issue is not viewed as serious, but with seven-goal Erling Haaland to cope with, England head coach Thomas Tuchel can hardly afford to take fitness risks with defenders.
England midfielder Declan Rice is understood to have missed a second successive day of training because of a sickness bug.
Rice has been suffering with a neural issue, affecting his hamstring and lower back, and it has been exacerbated by illness.
England have taken steps to ensure the bug does not spread.
In better news for Tuchel, first-choice right-back Reece James has returned to full training for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in the goalless draw with Ghana.
The right-back did not complete the entire session, but James is expected to be available to face Norway this weekend providing he feels no ill effects from Thursday's session.
Tuchel and his staff will need to decide whether James is fit to start or if he should feature among the substitutes.

Do you think countries should be able to call up any FIFA registered footballer during the tournament? Maybe as long as they have 1 competetive cap or something... Seems a shame to go into a showcase final without the best your country can put forward due to mad injuries.
Re: World Cup 2026
No, the squad size should be able to accomodate it, if you make the right choices.Matt1878 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 10:48 pm Do you think countries should be able to call up any FIFA registered footballer during the tournament? Two full teams, plus nearly an extra full compliment of substitutions.
Some countries can barely get a full squad of professionals together that play first team football, (but still have a competent enough 11 to compete).
Re: World Cup 2026
Seen a stat that 5 of the top 8 ranked teams in the world qualified for the quarter finals. The other 3 are all managed by ex everton managers.
Re: World Cup 2026
It also doesn’t help if you include mascots in your squad like Henderson instead of a quality player.Cods wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2026 12:21 am No, the squad size should be able to accomodate it, if you make the right choices.

At least bring a kid, an U21 that might benefit from the experience but at a push fills a gap.
Surely the budget for 'Bringing It Home'(tm) expands to having good people around the place?

Re: World Cup 2026
Belgium either win or Spain finally come into form and smash them tonight.
Always felt like Spain were growing into the tournament but maybe they’re just off it this time around.
Belgium will be flying after the last two games and seem to have found a way of playing that works without Doku and KDB.
