Re: General Transfer Thread
Would have had him here as a McNeil replacement (assuming we shift the lad that is)
Re: General Transfer Thread
They'll regret this. He's a very good player and crops up with really important goals, I'd be keeping him rather than take the 17mIndiantoffee75 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2026 6:13 pm Arsenal and Besiktas have reportedly agreed to a deal worth up to €20 million (£17.1 million) for the transfer of winger Leandro Trossard

Oof.
Not the guy I want learning Brentford’s protocols for getting away with subtle fouls to gain an advantage.

Re: General Transfer Thread
Rumour of Spurs bidding 85 mil for Bournemouth’s Kroupi. They’ll probably hold out for 100 mil at current market rates.
Spurs outspending everyone at the moment if this sort of thing goes through.

It's all unravelling a bit for Newcastle, Guimaraes has asked to leave now.

This is just what happens when you’re not a consistent top team. Eventually, the vultures come for your top players.Gash wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2026 7:49 pm It's all unravelling a bit for Newcastle, Guimaraes has asked to leave now.

Players don’t care how rich your owners are and it’s a bit irrelevant in the era of financial restrictions / former big clubs pulling the ladder up behind them.
Re: General Transfer Thread
I don't think that matters tbh, they just can't invest what is needed to bridge the gap to being a true top 4-5 team.
Most of the players love Howe too so him being there is probably a reason to stay, although clearly now a couple of their stars have left it's set the alarm bells ringing for Bruno about where the club are heading.
Like or hate Newcastle, they're a prime example of why the financial rules are a farce and create a monopoly for a few teams when it comes to success.

Need to spend well consistently though. That’s the tricky part for a club that wants to spend like a properly rich one.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2026 8:56 pm I don't think that matters tbh, they just can't invest what is needed to bridge the gap to being a true top 4-5 team.

They smashed a bunch of signings and had a good group of players. Even after losing Isak, the chasm between results and quality of squad last season was inexcusable. Now they’ve missed their window with this group and have to hope the next batch are somewhere near as good.
I don’t think Howe’s all bad but he always presents a big potential downside because his sides tend to lack organization. He’s a bit like if Martinez had social competence and didn’t entirely punt fitness. Most of the way to fixing the weaknesses but the lack of defensive structure still kills sporadically.
