Moyes' Everton 2006 vs 2026
20 years apart, same manager, 1 point difference (50 in 2006, 49 last season) but a big goal difference (-15 in 2006, -3 last season). Who would make your combined 11 from the two seasons assuming Moyes' classic 4231?
2005/2006 squad: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/everton ... on_id/2005
2025/2026 squad: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/everton ... on_id/2025
Personally I'd go:
Beattie
Grealish Cahill Ndiaye
Arteta Carsley
Pistone Branthwaite Yobo Neville
Martyn
Pickford, KDH & Garner all close to making it

Pistone/Naysmith/Valente all better than Mykolenko IMO
Martyn was an incredible goalkeeper and tied with Pickford.
Beattie was best of a bad bunch (Beto/Barry/Bent/Ferguson/Vaughan) - I considered Cahill as ST and KDH as the 10

Re: Moyes' Everton 2006 vs 2026
The 2005/6 was a pretty grim season, knocked out of CL and UEFA Cup so quickly, average-to-poor signings made with the exception of Arteta. Martyn got a career ending injury and we were rock bottom of the table for most of the first 9 or 10 fixtures and had a miserable Christmas period.
I will need to have a think about the combined squad but our fullback and striker options were/are pretty poor.

Beattie? If he fell off a roof he'd miss the ground. Great for Southampton, a bit like Dibbling in some ways

He was the occasional scorer of wonder goals but not a wonderful goal scorer
