Argentina route to the SF:

Group: Algeria, Austria, Jordan
R32: Cape Verde
R16: Egypt/Australia
QF: Switzerland/Iran*/Ghana/Colombia

*Or Algeria/Austria

Colombia looked decent there but... Bloody hell. Messi will get 20 goals this tournament.

Algeria-Austria probably the best match of the WC so far.

Both go through with a draw so you'd think it would be a bit dull.

Mahrez scores in the 93rd minute to out Algeria ahead, would send Austria out and Iran in.

Austria score in the 95th minute to save themselves.

Great match honestly, one of the funnest I've watched so far this WC.

Colombia
DR Congo
Algeria v Austria draw
Argentina

Was the first time i'd looked at odds this World Cup and the above was 12/1. If I'd put it on and it'd missed due to Davison Sanchez's toenail then I'd never have forgiven VAR.

Last night was as exciting as it looked as it effectively became knockout football, with teams knowing exactly what results they needed to get through. I'd probably still have James back you know.

And now the real part of the tournament begins.

Quansah injured? Shame, he looked so dynamic and offered so much going forwards whilst being completely fine and positionally sound the whole time defensively

At least they won’t win it

It’ll be a complete shock to them when they actually play someone half decent after so many piss easy games and they’ll be out

You message me moaning about @American Evertonian and @Blueomar all the time anyway.

Mad game overnight by the looks of it (surprisingly)

Algeria finished 3rd and have gone into a much easier knockout spot than Austria finishing 2nd.

I actually went to check how many people lived in Jordan so I could question statistically how its possible there wasnt a single person in the 11m populace better at beeing a goalkeeper than that guy.

Caught up with the match this morning, pretty poor performance but got the job done.

The defence just looks absolutely horrid though, it's a huge concern moving to the knock out stages. I'm hoping Quansha's injury rules him out for the tournament as he was a bit of a disaster. Spence is an actual RB so maybe Tuchel will be forced to play him and give us a bit more balance and someone who's naturally comfortable playing there.

Just watched the highlights.

Amazing considering all the talk of this fixture beforehand.

A great way to end what’s been a really fun group stage.
