Re: World Cup 2026
2 calamitous goals killed us here.
Feeling pretty shitty about it all right now. Far from the glorious failure we normally specialise in, very little glorious in these three games.
Just a lack of quality all over.

Wow South Africa surprise Korea with a win and leap ahead of them on head to head.
Canada vs South Africa in Rd of 32 in Los Angeles.
Probably a better match up for us to Korea in Los Angeles which would have basically been an away game given the Korean population in LA.
Don't want to look past SA but definitely feel like a good chance to get to the last 16 which would be viewed as a huge success. Maybe gives us a better chance of getting Davies back in some capacity.

Re: World Cup 2026
The young lad from Bosnia looks some player. Alajbegovic. 6ft1, 18 plays for Salzburg. Good job we don't have a good young right winger on the books.
Re: World Cup 2026
As much as I love them, scoring one deflected goal in three games shouldn't get you through to the next round
Re: World Cup 2026
Still some hope for Scotland despite the mood. Need four of the below to happen:
Group D: Australia beat Paraguay by 2 or more goals (Or Paraguay beat Australia 4-0+)
Group E: Ecuador don't beat Germany & Curacao don't beat Ivory Coast
Group F: Fucked unless Sweden get beat by 4 goals by Japan
Group G: Egypt beat Iran
Group H: Spain beat Uruguay
Group I: Iraq win (less than 3-0) or draw against Senegal
Group J: Austria beat Algeria by 2 or more goals (Or Algeria beat Austria 4-0+)
Group K: Uzbekistan win (less than 4-0) or draw against DR Congo
Group L: Fucked unless Croatia get beat by 3 goals against Ghana
I think Group E, G & H scenarios all look very possible.
Group D, J & K wouldn't be crazy.
Forget about Group F, I & L

Re: World Cup 2026
What’s the point in qualifying for these tournaments if you’re going to approach them the way Scotland have?
They’ve been an awful watch in every one they’ve qualified for.
Surely massive pressure on Steve Clarke now?
Doak, mctomiany, Ferguson, mcginn. That’s a very good midfield that can play a lot better than what they’ve showed.

well if people want to watch 90 minutes of defending........Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 10:27 pm I don't know why we can't give other people and other teams credit. We're obsessed with seeing ourselves as the main character in every situation, and we remove the agency and abilities of the other team.
Ghana did an exceptional job defensively and posed a regular threat on the break. There's absolutely no harm in saying that. If Mourinho was managing that team, it would be viewed by the Western media as a defensive masterclass neutralising one of the best attacking teams in the competition.
Incredibly smart, disciplined performance by Ghana.
not for me

Re: World Cup 2026
Yeah been really disappointed for Scotland fans.
Like Ram says, it's not as if they have a team of absolute shite.
Look at how Haiti, Cape Verde etc have approached the tournament.
Scotland could have really scored a few more in the first game and more bravery they could have got something from Morocco game.
I think you need a braver manager and I hope you qualify again. I've loved seeing the fans and I love the national anthem.
I also love the away shirt and I bought a knock off one with mctominey on the back

Slightly! Although Panama are ranked like 35 places higher than Ghana bizarrely.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 9:52 am Croatia are playing Ghana not Panama, slightly more possible
