I’d forgot about him this season until you posted. I just read that he’s had a knee injury but fully recovered so would be cautious about that but this would be a great signing otherwise for free. Really intelligent player and clearly underrated. Got a few goals against the shite too

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
He's missed 657 days since 23/24 with 2 separate serious knee injuries.
His injury record throughout his career is frightening. Wouldn't go anywhere near him even on a free.
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
But we have Colemans wages free to us up so giving them to Solly would be ok
Or was that just the old Everton did shit like that

Pickford
RB JOB Tarkowski LB
Garner CM

If we don't have two new full backs in the XI next year then I will be giving Mykolenko the Nyarko treatment. And no Wan-Bissakas either. Modern fullbacks who are comfortable on the ball and can actually join attacks. I think someone like Maatson at Villa would be a good buy for us.
Love Branthwaite but he can't be relied upon. Just make JOB-Tarkowski the CB pairing next season.
Big Idrissa Gana Gueye fan but we need someone in there who can get on the ball on dictate the play. Garner isn't capable of doing that. Gana can to an extent but not really. Forget about Tim doing it.
*Grealish or another winger. I'd rather Grealish but if that falls through and we get a pacey guy in then I won't be upset.
Just get rid of Barry. He's scored enough goals that we can probably make our money back. He doesn't want to be here. He's not going to get the Everton fans back with him. I'm sure someone will spend £20m on him with some addons. Get a proper striker in to replace him.

I don't mind a defensive RB as long as we sign an attacking LB.Shogun wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 8:48 am Pickford

Most teams set up with a back 3 in possession so it'd be unlikely we'd have 2 flying full backs regardless of who is in charge.
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
I can see us spending a lot this summer, not just on a gross basis but also net spend. I can see gross expenditure being in the region of £150m this window, with one or two outgoings to supplement this.
Revenue from the new stadium will now be filtering through, and our net spend as shown in previous posts over 5 years is very low. It's around €40m net spend over the last 3 years according to Transfermarkt. That is nothing for a PL side.
Large parts of the squad need quality and quantity adding to it. We need a starting CM to replace Gana, RB, CB, LB, and striker. And that's without looking at the wide positions where we have used McNeil extensively. You might expect Grealish to return on loan, but we may also have to have a look at George or a more ready made signing on either wing.
We have a sound base, with some decent quality. But if we don't spend big this summer, I really feel it will come back to bite us next season.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Ideal world:
Striker - One of Barry/Beto out based on whoever we can get a decent price for (£20m?) and a new starting striker in (£50m) - £30m net spent
Starting RB - £25m net spend
Starting LB - Could be a cheaper experienced player given we also have Myko & Aznou £15m net spend
New CB - Branthwaite/O'Brien/Tarks and we need one additional given Branthwaite injury issues. Ideally an early 20s player with no injury history and ready to step in like Maxime Esteve £25m net spend
New LW/RW - Assuming McNeil out for about £15m we're very light out wide, we're also desperately in need of pace. Look for the next Rayan/Semenyo and spend £40m £25m net spend
New creative CM - Armstrong/Rohl/Iroegbunam are all similar profiles, we would ideally sell one of them for £25m and spend on a starting creative passing midfielder for £40m-£50m - Net spend £25m
Supplement that with another winger on loan (Older Grealish type or younger George type)
Also Alcaraz will go for a weirdly small fee like £8m
Total Net Spend - £130m-£145m
What I actually expect
Striker - Barry goes out on loan and we loan in some older striker on big wages and an annual fee (Toney/Mitrovic/Gabriel Jesus?) £5m net spend
Starting RB - Cut price move for Wan-Bissaka £10m Net spend
Starting LB - Sadly I think he's going to stick with Mykolenko, loan out Aznou and loan in some experienced cover who will actually oust Mykolenko £0m net spend
New CB - Cut price older player on a free and big wages (Stones, White?) and re-sign Keane £0m net spend
New LW - Buy Grealish for £30m £30m net spend
New RW - Loan a random youngster from a big club but play Rohl there instead £0m net spend
New Creative CM - Nah fuck that we'll pay £15m for Soucek £15m net spend
Also Alcaraz will go for a weirdly small fee like £8m
Total Net Spend - £50m-£60m

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Absolutely don't want Gabriel Jesus. He's not that good, not prolific, and that's before you take his age and injury issues in to account.
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Don’t need to re sigN Keane, he already contracted to end of 27 season
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Jesus doesn't score much but his overall play and competence is light years ahead of Beto and Barry.
Technically excellent but because he scores at the same rate our current strikers do it wouldn't be something I'd be keen on.
I see a world where him, Grealish and Ndaiye all link up really well, especially with KDH behind. We'd have a very technically silky attack, but where are the goals coming from?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Jesus doesn’t want to contest for headers with his back to goal all game. Moyes is a bit like Dyche in that respect. Can’t use strikers in any creative ways.
