Re: Merlin Röhl
Tim is honestly nowhere near as good as Gana.
Let Gana leave by all means, go and buy a top CM.

Re: Merlin Röhl
Tim has come on leaps and bounds despite not playing a huge amount. More than happy for him and Rohl to share the minutes next season.
How are we ever going develop talent if we don't play them?
Also people keep saying buy a CM, buy a CB... It's like they don't want us to actually spend good money addressing the problems at full back and striker that we've had for years.

Yeah he has, and he’s still nowhere near as good as Gana.
Neither is Garner tbh despite the hype. night and day in how they show up in games.
I don’t think Tim will ever be ganas level and maybe not even complete enough to play prem regularly? He’s come on leaps and bounds an still can’t get a game?
No go and get a top CM who can get us playing. Then if you want the likes of Garner, Tim, Merlin to run around a lot fine.

Re: Merlin Röhl
Can't get a game because Moyes will always play the experienced player over the inexperienced... Tim's numbers suggest that given regular game time he'd be a very good player.brap2 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 10:17 am Yeah he has, and he’s still nowhere near as good as Gana.

Re: Merlin Röhl
LB - £25m
RB - £25m
ST - £50m
That's £100m to address the most important aspects of the team... Not sure where people think we're getting the money from to also add in quality CMs and CBs. Unless people are happy to go another season without the above, which imo would be absolutely criminal.

Why is it costing us £100m to sign three players and why is that all we’re able to do?AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 11:56 am LB - £25m

Re: Merlin Röhl
Moyes plays the player most able to impact the game today, though following instructions or application of talent and physical attributes, vs the balance of those things.
He always has. If we had a 17 year old Wayne Rooney at the club he’d be playing at the weekend but we do not.
Re: Merlin Röhl
What do you think it'd cost?
How much do you think we could spend?
I'm obviously speculating but I doubt we'll have much more than that to spend given the new cost cap rules, and it's inline with what we spent last summer.
Obviously if we can spend £200m then it's not an issue, but whatever we do spend, LB, RB, and ST absolutely have to be where we spend first and foremost, and likely where we'd end up spending the vast majority of our budget
Re: Merlin Röhl
Rooney is a massive outlier, there's not a manager in the world who wouldn't play a 17 year old Wayne Rooney.brap2 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 12:36 pm Moyes plays the player most able to impact the game today, though following instructions or application of talent and physical attributes, vs the balance of those things.

Re: Merlin Röhl
But the point stands, he’s an outlier because he can impact games and make you more likely to win than not.
That is the only calculation moyes is doing. Talent, physical, instruction, application - will I gain more than I lose in this immediate game?
He’s one of the best the prem has ever had at this judgement, which is why he’s had the career he has had. Tim, Charley, Tyler, Jake, none of them have enough of one or more of the above to convince him and it’s not because he randomly loves old players it’s because he knows what gets you points on the prem today, not next year or in three years time.
Re: Merlin Röhl
Well yes I don't disagree with that tbh, I'm not one of those who claims Moyes doesn't play young players because he hates doing so.brap2 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 2:24 pm But the point stands, he’s an outlier because he can impact games and make you more likely to win than not.

I just would happily give Gana's minutes to Tim and Rohl next season and develop them in to hopefully excellent talents that we either benefit from their development on field and / or sell for high profit down the line.
I think both have a lot of potential and keeping Gana around isn't going to allow them to develop that in to what they could become.
