Re: The race for... Europe?
I think 8th is a decent shout for us. I have watched Bournemouth and Brighton recently and I do think they're better than us. Them finishing 6th and 7th would be my bets.
Don't think Brentford are all that whilst Chelsea are in freefall and we're still to play Sunderland so 8th is well up for grabs and the Conference League hopefully.

Can’t get excited about finishing 8th to get conference league football.
Just shows the ridiculous nature of modern football.
Top 6/7 for Europa league is a different matter for me.
Wouldn’t be that arsed if we finished 9th if all we had to achieve was conference league football tbh.

Definitely feels like Bournemouth and Brighton's form has put a spanner in the works. Can't see us finishing above 8th but it's so tight that we could see us still finish anywhere from 6th to 12th.
Just got to take it a game at a time, we're very unpredictable so it's really hard to judge what games we might win or lose.

I don't rate the Conference League but it would be nice to be in Europe again, get the trophy monkey off our backs and qualify for the Europa League through it the following season.TheRam wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 8:41 am Can’t get excited about finishing 8th to get conference league football.

Palace have been a mess for large parts of the season under Glasner but will probably be in the Europa League next season so they're still managing to progress in spite of their league form.

Re: The race for... Europe?
Possibly 9th if villa win europa Cup and finish top 4/5 I'm sure i read that somewhere ?
Re: The race for... Europe?
I'd settle for the Conference League over nothing, but I'm now resigned to nothing. I actually have a feeling we'll finish bottom half at this point, which isn't a disaster or anything but would obviously be a bit of a let down.
Re: The race for... Europe?
I don't think so. I think there are 5 CL places, 2 Europa League places and 1 Conference League place available.dixie normus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 9:32 am Possibly 9th if villa win europa Cup and finish top 4/5 I'm sure i read that somewhere ?
From what I've read if Villa win the EL and finish 5th then that becomes 6 CL places (1 of which is Villa through winning the EL), 1 EL place and 1 ConL place.
This depends on City winning the FA Cup too

Would rather be in it than not, definitely.
Just think we shouldn’t be in a position where 8th or possibly 9th gets a team European football.

Would be good for Seamus to lift a trophy… oh wait, the first season without him and we’ll win somethingShogun wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2026 8:47 am I don't rate the Conference League but it would be nice to be in Europe again, get the trophy monkey off our backs and qualify for the Europa League through it the following season.
