Re: Thierno Barry
Hes consistently done nothing. Even in his purple patch it was an odd moment of competent play and a few really good finishes.
Did a bit of a victory lap in the media when he scored a few. Hes god awful. Really poor signing. Be amazed if hes playing for us next season

Re: Thierno Barry
He's shit. Lacks even the effort to pretend to be half a player like Beto.
Slow, lazy, weak, zero awareness and really poor on the ball. If theres potential in there, I hope he's at some other club trying to find it.
Fucking sick of us accepting utterly mediocre centre forwards.

Re: Thierno Barry
My thoughts on him haven’t changed from the beginning of the season, glad everyone else is now of the same opinion.
Question now is, if Beto has to miss the mandatory two weeks, who plays, can’t be this phoney. Does Dibbo get a chance and stick Ndaiye up front, George up front, although he looks weak, does Graham get a chance from the bench? False nine with Alcaraz? Fucked if I know, but do not want Barry anywhere near.

Re: Thierno Barry
Beto showed for 70 mins today, regardless of your quality or end product. In this league and for this club there is a minimum requirement. He came on today and was unwilling to show that for me.
There was a moment in the 90th or so minute were 36 year old Gueye busted a gut to press the CBs and Barry didnt join him in the press. If you arent willing to do the dirty work, you wont make it in this league. So dissapointed in him today, and the step down in quality from Beto to him is what turned the tide in the match for me. (Absolute madness to say that isnt it.)
I got the impression today he wants out. Think the Arsenal incident has put a wedge between him and the fans that cannot be repaired.
Sad end to a shitty story. Cheers Baz.

Re: Thierno Barry
Moyes should never have put him on. Obvious he doesn’t want to be here and we lost all momentum when he replaced Beto.
Anyone up top but him was the sub.

Re: Thierno Barry
I think we've got to be realistic with our striker situation.
We've spent the equivalent cost of an average top 10 goalscorer (average cost based on a top 10 scorer over the last 5 league seasons), and split that cost between two players, Beto and Barry.
Their combined 2025/26 goals return (extrapolating out to a full season), is only around 1 goal short of both the average and median number of goals a top 10 striker in the league generally scores (this average includes the 36 and 27 from Haaland and 30 from Kane and 29 from Salah, which are considerable outliers).
And we almost never play Beto and Barry together.
What we're getting is about what we should be expecting, especially given our strength over the last decade or so has been focussing on not conceding rather than scoring.
Since the turn of the millennium, the last 28 full seasons, we've had a top scorer reach double figures in less than half of those seasons, and a 15+ goalscorer in only 3 seasons (and only in 1 season if you exclude Lukaku, and that was DCL under Carlo!)
Perspective needed.

Re: Thierno Barry
All of that is fine.
But I can't watch him jogging around the pitch.
The difference in him and Beto yesterday was crazy.
Beto chasing everything, battling with defenders, holding it up.
Barry....slow jog back and forth. No press, no battle, no hold up.
You can a shit player, but you can run and run and run.

Re: Thierno Barry
I think thats the problem. Its not the amount of goals they've scored its the conplete lack of contribution from barry and the same from beto in the early part of the season. Im quite okay with this version of beto certainly for what we paid. 10 goals maybe and battling away. We cant carry players who consistently dont contribute thoughAudrey Horne wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2026 4:31 am All of that is fine.

Re: Thierno Barry
His head has clearly gone, maybe it's the fans thing, maybe it's being benched for Beto, who knows?
The premier league is a really physical league though and he's struggled with that throughout his time here so far. Apart from winning headers which he's good at, he's lost about 90% of every physical duel he's faced this season.
I'd still keep him over Beto, but mainly because I think we'd get money for one and struggle to shift the other... Neither should be our starting striker next season though whatever happens.

Personally i think the way Beto has played since getting back in and his work ethic in training has bought him another year in the Royal Blue. Rightly so for me too.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2026 6:54 am His head has clearly gone, maybe it's the fans thing, maybe it's being benched for Beto, who knows?

Re: Thierno Barry
He's checked out and we need to hope we can get at least something back for him in the summer, not sure how likely that is though. Yesterday he was so clearly not bothered I hope he doesn't play again.
If he's not looking at Beto's work rate and seeing how the fans get behind him because of it and having it drive him to put that effort in too then he's a lost cause.

Think he's accepted he's not staying, so continues to give nothing. Really disappointing signing. Still don't know who signed him or why

Re: Thierno Barry
I think people are being really generous suggesting his current form is much different from what hes produced consistently most of the season. Hes been largely awful. The only difference is a couple of good touches earlier in the season and people would be spinning it as a sign of great potential. The goodwill has gone now and hes being judged on the performances which have hardly ever been good enough
Id like us to keep beto. His form back end of both this season and last has been plenty decent enough. Need to find away to avoid the massive dip between the 2 again though.
