Also Phil Jagielka's son was a few years above and ended up chatting to him at a school Fathers Day breakfast, we was like, "Hi I'm Phil and I was "I know who you are" and we ended up having a chat about Nuremburg away.

Plus plenty of United / City and Liverpool players with kids in the same year including Bruno who is sound and always up for a chat about football.
I’ve heard from a few mancs that Bruno is sound as they come.

Did anyone meet any of these?

I foolishly thought this crop would retain us the title, whilst the other lot got Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge.

I had high hopes for Nevin, but just another fancy Dan on the wing in the end, also weren’t they two seasons after we won the league, 88/89?

They all came in the season after our last title, so the summer at the end of the 87-88 season when we’d just finished 4th

Just googled, two seasons it was, 88/89 our last title was 86/87.

Well, they were bought right at the end of the 87-88 season, so when they all came in we’d only just been deposed as league champions a couple of months before.

Nevin's lob against United is one of my favourite Everton goals.

Always felt like we didn't get the best out of Cottee. We had him for some of his best years but my memory is it seemed like every manager he played under didn't quite trust him enough and he didn't play as much as he should have. Memory is hazy though.

Cottee once drove up our road as a kid. I waived to him and he waived back.

Didn’t he end up on 99 goals for us?
He had a quite few lean spells and seemed to score in gluts, and quite a few hat tricks against lower opposition.
I think Kendall stuck him in the reserves and he lined up against his window cleaner playing for Marine 😂
Likeable lad though.

If he was a kid, why was he even driving at all?

Never met any of them but I did get a really nice signed photo of Nevin when my dad died and he wrote a really thoughtful, personal message on the back too. Lovely stuff.

Oh very droll, maybe mum or dad was driving? Surely, the big story here is that BD1 was able to spot the talent that was Tony Cottee when both were wee whippersnappers? And remember him. Prescient!

Met Kevin Ratcliffe a few times, once as a teenager when i was behind the scenes as a guest of the referee (via a mate), he wasn’t playing due to injury but I couldn’t get over how tall he wasn’t, I think players always seem bigger when they’re on the pitch.
The next time was at one of his sportsmen’s dinners, and I was made up when we were all lining up for a pic, and he said “fuckin hell Jon, what you doing here? I used to do his mums hair and he recognised me.
Not former player related, but I also got an apology off Ivan Lendl (childhood hero) when he nearly knocked me out as I was walking in to centre court at Wimbledon and he was coming out. He seemed liked a giant. I remember not being able to get a word out as I was totally star struck.
