Re: David Moyes
It’s like the coaching staff got the work experience lad to look at a grainy vhs tape of Arsenal’s set pieces for 2 minutes and then implemented his findings
Re: David Moyes
We used to be quite good a corners, that one to Tarks at the back post worked a couple of times but soon everyone figured it out. Last night was pathetic though and as I said on the matchday thread, made worse by the fact it was a tactic that we'd clearly worked on, how we thought that was going to delivery anything I'll never know. Ten corners wasn't it and I don't think we troubled them with any of them, our players spent more time in the goal than the six yard box.

Re: David Moyes
The bigger question is do TFG throw more funds at players this summer in which the manager isn't sold on playing and knowing that in 12 months time he won't be the manager?

Re: David Moyes
I get the logic, the keeper was coming out strong and claiming or clearing our crosses, so we crowd him out to try to negate that.
I don't get why we just repeated the same delivery over and over, no change up at all. We had people on the edge and in acres of space, we could have had people making a run across the front post, why not just mix it up once or twice?

Re: David Moyes
Doubt there was much thought on the set pieces behind he’s a young keeper from abroad so he must be shite on set pieces.
He dealt with everything with ease last night.

But the lack of variety…..
After 3, 4, 5… “lads it’s not working - switch to Plan B.”

Re: David Moyes
11 corners and not one that we got a clean contact on just trying to make it a scrum in front of the keeper
Re: David Moyes
I believe that TFG is expecting more of their investments to play as soon as Europe is out of the equation or unlikely.Indiantoffee75 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 24, 2026 12:04 pm The bigger question is do TFG throw more funds at players this summer in which the manager isn't sold on playing and knowing that in 12 months time he won't be the manager?
If he doesn't play the younger players by then he.might not last over the summer. TFG might be a little more patient than many owners but they are also business men. So I think it's up to Moyes to prove he wants to buy in to TFGs long term strategy or else he's gone.

Re: David Moyes
I never wanted Moyes to return, but he was exactly what we needed and delivered, as frustrating as it is watching, I think he needs to be here next season, just to properly lay the cornerstones (excuse the pun after last nights efforts) we change in the summer we risk going back to fighting relegation as much as we have progressing. We all know what Moyes is like from the first time and nothing has changed, but in my opinion, he’s exactly what we need right now. Possibly time to replace Irvine with a more fresh forward thinking coach.

Not the hero we wants but the one we deserve...Bluebridge wrote: ↑Tue Feb 24, 2026 7:04 pm I never wanted Moyes to return, but he was exactly what we needed and delivered, as frustrating as it is watching, I think he needs to be here next season, just to properly lay the cornerstones (excuse the pun after last nights efforts) we change in the summer we risk going back to fighting relegation as much as we have progressing. Re: David Moyes
Totally agree with the corners insanity. I had a God's view from the upper South. The ruck on the line was ridiculous.. keeper getting a foul decision, our players were never getting a decent header etc.. it's been sussed Davy, so change it. What happened to running onto it with power, like Dunc did. We've got grocks and yet they're getting crowded out. As for the quality of the corners.... pull up a chair
Re: David Moyes
Think we give him a summer and next season to see what he can do. He's still done a great job but if there isn't an improvement in the football next season think the fans and owners won't put up with it
Re: David Moyes
Added a poll for fun
I think Moyes has done a very good job to stabalise us but I also think that the home results and performances this season are an indicator that he's not the man for the future. The new stadium was supposed to be the start of a new and exciting era and of course there's nothing guaranteed in football but it's been as bad as it could have been I think. 14 home match this season and the breakdown is:
W4 - Brighton, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Forest
D4 - West Ham, Aston Villa, Wolves, Leeds
L6 - Spurs, Newcastle, Arsenal, Brentford, Bournemouth, Man United
16 goals scored. By the time the Burnley match comes, it'll be 4 months without a win at home.
Moving into a new stadium can be tough but I don't think that's the reason for the poor home form, it's the football we're producing that's the issue. Very slow, not a lot of creativity, bizarre line-up choices and I can't imagine the way he's dealt with Dibling this season is going to help us signing talented young players under him in the future. I don't think he's done a great job with Barry either, it's just that Beto has been so bad he's not a good enough rotation option anymore.
The away form has been excellent but that's where you can sit back and stay in the game without forcing the game which just isn't acceptable at home. I don't see how Moyes fits with the direction we want to go as a club.
In the summer would be the time to part ways I think.

Re: David Moyes
I get the frustrations but at the end of the day he's done a great job of keeping us up comfortably last season and having us in upper mid table this year.
A large part of his playing players out of position stems from not having good enough players for those positions to begin with, and because he's a stubborn bastard he doesn't want to play someone like Patterson in case the board turn round and tell him we don't need to buy an RB because we already have one who is doing ok.
There's no perfect manager, I'm sure every supporter of every club has things about their manager that frustrates them, so as long as the objectives are being met it's something you live with because the overall picture is good.
He's also played the likes of Barry, Armstrong and Tim lots so he's not adverse to developing younger players if they are willing to put the work in.
Give him 2 new full backs, some pace and a half decent target man and we're an entirely different proposition under him... Patience is required, give him to the tools to succeed and then if he doesn't kick us on that's the time to be asking questions imo.
