No coincidence imo he's looked so good with Alcaraz in front of him and then being played a bit deeper as a result.
Charlie does loads and loads of pressing and then teams go longer to compensate and our big players usually win the ball, then KDH is in that nice pocket to receive it and make things happen in ways Gana can't.
For me this is the midfield all season now, or if Garner goes RB Tim or Gana will have to sit, as having KDH in there and Alcaraz ahead is making us a really tough team to deal with.

It makes it a little easier to part with Gana for AFCON that’s for sure.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 7:08 pm No coincidence imo he's looked so good with Alcaraz in front of him and then being played a bit deeper as a result.

Having Gana and KDH in the middle with Garner at RB is also an option. Although I think Garner does a better job at being a steady defensive presence. Having both Gana and KDH running around all over the pitch probably isn’t the best idea, although sounds quite fun

Much better playing deeper. Naturally gets more time on the ball, where he does his best work

I think you’re right
*bit early to say definitively, though, as he is a bit lightweight so he could easily get bullied in there

Re: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
He was everywhere today, great on the ball and off it.
Loved the little battle in the middle that ended with him kicking off a little bit. He refused to be bullied by them and won battle after battle all game.
The best signing we've made in years!

A different type of player, but he's becoming a bit like Moyes V2s version of Tim Cahill in some ways.
