Alcaraz is much better than most give him credit for I think he has the brains and the energy to play 8 moving Jake back to rb is a backwards move hopefully Seamus might be fit if not no choice but throw Patterson inAjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 3:10 pm I think that midfield is even more of a disaster than JOB at RB tbh.
KDH did well sitting deeper on Tuesday, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with him or Alcaraz playing as the actual DM. It's horribly weak and positionally awful, and although I love Grealish he's not going to off the same protection KDH or Alcaraz do as the 10.

Re: Jake O'Brien
I am thinking the same. That's why he was back on the bench and didnt play with the kids this week.Bluebridge wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 5:53 pm I’ve a feeling it’ll be Patterson in, especially if Keane is still out.
Keeps him fresh for Saturday.

Re: Jake O'Brien
Between his pre season and injury record there's not a chance Patterson's getting thrown in from the start without any other game time.

Moyes said today Patterson could play at the weekend so I will be ready for the fume from one man in particular

Re: Jake O'Brien
The lad has had an unbelievably small amount of senior appearances for someone his age. Only 62 appearances in 7 seasons for Rangers and Everton. I don’t know how many times he started in his 13 appearances for Rangers, but he’s started 26 times for us and come on as a sub 23 times.
He should be brand new.
He’s in his 5th season here. I really liked what I saw on his debut for us and I’ve been a bit of a cheerleader for him getting a chance in the past, but if we can’t do it now then I think he needs to go and get regular footy somewhere else if he’s to have any chance of getting anywhere near his potential.

Re: Jake O'Brien
Patto was back on the bench and part of the squad on Tuesday, so I can imagine starting him to move JG back to midfield for 433.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Him and Coleman have both been on the bench in the same matches and Moyes has still taken JOB off and moved Garner to RB and put on a midfielder rather than bring either of them on.
Re: Jake O'Brien
But this time we haven't got any midfielders left. If Keane is still out I can see Patterson getting a go.
Re: Jake O'Brien
I know and still don't think he'll get a start, maybe come on later in the game but I just don't see Moyes risking his fitness with his record. Plus he clearly doesn't rate him.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Who does he play at right back though? I dont see Moyes going with KDH and Alcaraz together and an attacking player in the 10.
Re: Jake O'Brien
He'll need to something he's not comfortable with, I don't think Patterson's it though. He'd rather player players he can trust out of position than throw Patterson in with no game time in the last 3 or 4 months, which is fair enough to be honest. I don't even think Patterson's fully fit yet and was only there as a bench filler at Bournemouth anyway.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Yeah don't fancy their chances, would be massive for us if eg patto could just be an Ok prem level RB for a while with his pace and style. Would be absolutely massive.
But I don't expect that to happen tbh, I think minds are made up and maybe rightly so.
