Moyes 100% will be instructing his team upstairs to find him a striker ready to contribute immediately in January. He has virtually said as much so far this season, by publicly calling out both Barry and Beto for not delivering. Regardless of whether we as fans want to persevere with him to see if the penny finally drops, Moyes will be thinking about results short term.

Barry is far from a lost cause but I'd be surprised if we aren't looking to sell Beto and bring in a more proven experienced striker in January.

What's Danny Ings up to?

Too much pressure on the lad. Get a better replacement for Beto and give young Barry last 15 and cup games.

Looked to me that he headed it on to the post, it rebounded on the the back of the keepers arm, back on to the post, and then on to the keepers arm again.

He'll be absolutely fine. There's clearly a lot of talent there to work with. Sometimes players have these mad runs where nothing goes their way for ages. Remember Spurs not winning a game with Gareth Bale in the starting lineup for 2 seasons or whatever it was. It's an anomaly.

Barry will score goals, and will be a quality striker in time.

We do need to bring another player in though, in the meantime to take the pressure of him and give us a better option for the short term.

He's getting a lot of credit for two or three touches per game that do little more than find a teammate.
Not only has he failed to score but he's had little involvement in settling up goals for others.
Nowhere near ready. Replace Beto in January and give Barry the sub role.

Said all along he’s not a premier league or lower league player, I don’t think the English leagues will ever suit him. I’d love him to prove me wrong, but he’s like a rabbit lost in the headlights. We have to sign a forward in January.

That's actually how I see it. He does 2 or 3 neat lay offs a game and people on mass insist hes been very good. Hes not involved enough and he doesn't look anywhere near contributing with regular goals.

I'd like to think if and when he gets a goal let's see if it makes a difference.

Didn’t he break some sort of record for headed duels against United?

We lose that game with beto upfront.

It will come.

Glad he's decided to stick with him despite his record.

This thread just proves there are plenty that just don't want the time dedicated to developing a young player with potential. We saw it with DCL, Keane, even Lukaku ffs! There is absolutely enough evidence to show he's worth persisting with, and he's getting better with every game. We're not in a position to sign finished articles, they cost a fortune. We either buy aging players with no upward trajectory or future value, or we develop young talents like Barry. The latter requires patience, which some clearly don't have.

I'm not sure that's the actual full disconneithough.

To expand on what Jamo said:

"We're not in a position to sign finished articles" - not are we in a position to youngsters that are already capable of delivering straight away.

I've quoted (paraphrased) Arsene Wenger an nauseum, but I'll keep doing it. You don't pay for youth with pounds, you pay with points.
My interpretation of that is even the kids Arsenals greatest ever side were signing were shit when they first got brought into the team

I think there's some doubt if Barry will ever be good enough. We also aren't in a position to play with no goal threat upfront for an extended period cos hes miles away. Right now its him and beto. Maybe we can give them til the end of the season but this version of Barry can't be getting regular minutes for us next season if he wants to progress.
