Were "Keirnan Dewsbury Hall" not such a mouthfull, I wonder if he'd have been noticed as much as he was vs Fulham.

Although looking back I didnt realise he was so involved until I saw the defensive contribution stat, and now this.

A side note, I thought he was marked quite well by the man in black on a number of occassions against Fulham, had to use his skill to get around him a few times, but at least he wasn't targeted by him, as previously.

I think it helped his cause that it was more of a 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 than what we’ve seen previously.

Having one sitter and two box-to-box players makes the most of the skill sets we have in the middle. KDH is not a number 10, Tim is not tactically adept enough to partner another midfielder in a two but both of them have something to give allowed to work box-to-box.

I do think we missed a chance to sign Hackney for whatever fee Ipswich had agreed with Boro, though. Would’ve been similar money to KDH at worst and given us more options in the middle.

Those inside-out runs where Grealish drifts inside are so hard to mark and so effective for creating cutback opportunities or even shots.

Shame Myko has been effectively worthless as the third member of that triangle and made them both a bit easier to deal with.

I’d love to see what a more attack-minded left back could do in that role (like Aznou) but our midfield is not nearly sturdy enough to rotate over and cover for him adequately.

Had a real game Saturday in a slightly deeper position and while he's never going to be a number 10 his introduction into the squad has definitely helped us retain the ball better overall. I don't really get the hate for him on here, all opinions fair enough but I think he's doing alright, he's improved the team for me.

Can’t be saying that! We can’t afford to spend big money on “alright” and improving us slightly! We need to be aiming higher than 12th!

We should be spending £29m on an imaginary continental baller who would definitely hit the ground running and massively improve us in every way possible, if sunderland can do it then surely everyone can! (Apart from all those other teams that came up, tried it, went straight back down)

Maybe better running into advanced positions than he is when standing in them, so a deeper position suits him better.

Was definitely more of a 433 with KDH deeper and Tim making runs beyond the lines.

We looked a lot more balanced because of it.

Don’t think you could say he was a big money signing, not in today’s market. The jury’s still out, but he did play better on Saturday.

I like him as a ‘glue’ midfielder, keeps us together and ticking over. I just wish he was a bit less lightweight in there. Also, I know I didn’t watch the game, but from extended highlights I’d have had Gana as MOTM.
