I think this is the problem now. The rules aren't in place for any benefit to football now.. they are just something that need to be sidestepped. You aren't really punishing teams for doing anything wrong. Just for not using the technicalities at the right timeCereal Killer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 5:06 pm So if us or Roma are still in the cups or remotely close to European spots come mid-Feb the Friedkins need to whack someone’s shares in a blind trust just in case?
Then take them out if one of the sides doesn’t make Europe
Then put them back in again next Feb
Etc etc etc

Re: Palace's Europe Place in doubt
While I don't agree with Palace being kicked out at all, for this reason I am also amazed that it has taken till the middle of July to do it. None of the facts have changed since FA Cup final day. In fact, they could have announced it prior to the final. It seems like football just loves to drag things out for no particular reason.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 8:34 pm I think this is the problem now. Re: Palace's Europe Place in doubt
What an absolute state football is in. Palace wait over a hundred years to win something and their European prize is to get royally fucked in the arse by a bunch of European crooks.
Also, fuck Forest, bunch of twats.

Re: Palace's Europe Place in doubt
Obviously it's a load of bollocks but I don't really subscribe to the Uefa are being evil and Palace are being shafted narrative. I do subscribe to Forest being knobheads.
It's Palace's own fault they're in this situation. The loophole has been put in place by Uefa with the shares in a blind trust, so if Palace were daft enough not to take advantage of it then that's on them. If they never believed their club would qualify for Europe then that's on them as well.
Also Parish is making it seem like they're not in Europe at all. "You win a cup, actually win something for the first time in your history. Somebody said to me it's like winning the lottery, going to the counter and you don't get the prize."
They're still in the Conference League and it's not like they've not been knocked down from the Champions League. Chances are they'll at least make the final of the Conference League, win a trophy and qualify for the Europa League the following season.
Forest will probably at best make the SFs of the Europa League.
I don't rate the Conference League at all but it's arguably the better competition to be in for clubs of that size given it's their best chance for consecutive seasons in Europe

Re: Palace's Europe Place in doubt
The fans and players have earned the right to be in the Europa League with that FA Cup win. If the rules say Palace should be demoted due to its owners having ownership in another club, then IMO the rules are shit and need binned. The fact it can be circumvented by financial manipulation of shares just says it all really.Shogun wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2025 9:44 am Obviously it's a load of bollocks but I don't really subscribe to the Uefa are being evil and Palace are being shafted narrative. What happens if we manage to qualify for a European competition and Roma do as well? Same shit. Just another rule that affects smaller clubs more so than bigger clubs.
Re: Palace's Europe Place in doubt
Doesn't literally every other club in this situation just put the shares in a blind trust to avoid the issue happening? We'll just do that as Palace should have done.NomadskiEFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 9:50 pm

Re: Palace's Europe Place in doubt
So it’s just another pointless rule that is easy to circumnavigate around.
Palace have been dumb but then they probably weren’t expecting to win the FA Cup when the deadline to do this passed.

Not Palace - Textor. The other shareholders at Palace don’t have multi-club ownership.
Re: Palace's Europe Place in doubt
Exactly, Palace could win the conference league, forrest will get fuck-all.
