The most technical that keeper distribution got in Nev’s day was making sure you punted it as close to the edge of the area as possible without leaving it.

I remember Nev was pretty good because he was one of the keepers who could boot it so hard and so close to the edge of the area that his feet would land outside of the box immediately after.

I got to watch him do this for 45 minutes one time at St Andrews V Birmingham City when we were in line with the edge of the penalty area.

I was lucky enough to win a prize at arsenal away when I was about 6 or 7, we were in a box through my dad's work, and he was the player giving it to me. He just walked in, dropped it on me and walked away, no photos, no words or anything and it was the 2-1 win, so you'd have thought he'd be in a good mood.
Yeah, he had a bit of a reputation as a bit antisocial. He very rarely travelled on the team coach, instead preferring to travel in his own car.

Yeah I definitely think so. Martyn had a brilliant spell but over such a shorter period that it has to be Pickford. Peak Howard would get an honourable mention but Pickford's been so good for so long.
In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

Was trying to add an image of all the keepers post Big Nev but wouldn't save .

Yeah probs Pickford for the longevity over Martyn then Howard

Not hard really considering the dross we've had between the sticks

Yeah not much to compare to really. Howard was quite good for a while and terrible at the end. Martyn had an excellent short spell at the club. All the others rubbish.

Pickford is a top 5 goalkeeper in the league currently without doubt. Arguably top 3.

Absolutely. Has also been our most important player for most - possibly all - of the seasons he’s been here. Certainly for the last 4.

There was that season or two that Pickford had a wobble, aside from that he's been consistently brilliant.

I think we've been pretty blessed over the years in this position. Pickford has played 291 times for us and Martyn only played 86 times. Both are/were great players for us.

Comfortably our best player over the past decade and easily the best keeper I've seen in my time as an Everton fan (I only really saw a few years of Southall).

Genuinely think without him in at least one of the last three seasons we'd have gone down.

Comfortably our best since Southall.

One of the very few signings during the Moshiri era that can be called a success.
