I don’t think you lads have any sort of clue on how any of this works tbh.

The idea that both Keane and Coleman have taken huge reductions on their current contracts is lovely, but not realistic.

Any reductions will be minimal and they’ll still most likely be taking up quite a bit of money for little return on the pitch.

Seems like this is quite hard for some people on here to come to terms with.
I'm not making stuff up. I didn't say he'd told me. I just said that's what I thought we'd be paying him. It was just an opinion. Is it my turn to smugly apologise for having an opinion now?

Apparently it was Moyes who pushed for Keane to stay, says we had a CB lined up as a replacement

Well I don't think you have any clue given you think we're paying Coleman £70k a week so rather than go round in circles over something neither of us have any proof of maybe best just leave it until we hear something concrete on their wages.

He made Neville Everton captain and stuck him in CM for years, so you have to take the good with the bad with Moyes.

Moyes has yet to fully experience a Mick Keggers meltdown up close and personal like all of us though.

I’m pretty sure he knows exactly what to expect of Keane and feels that he has a role to play, you don’t get to Moyes level without knowing a little bit about football, there are also other people on the staff that will have seen enough of Keane’s performance to have had some input into the decision.

Moyes is a very good manager and a good judge of player. It’s ok to be frustrated that we can’t move on from the same bunch of players that have been poor and over paid for so long. His contract was run down for a reason and it should have been the logical time to part ways and look at starting afresh with some players with more to offer and with more potential.

Half agree but for the fact that we have so many other far more important positions to fill for which we need money that keeping a bit of continuity in the squad without capital outlay as we move into a new stadium is a major consideration.

During which time we had the privilege of playing European football, something that we hadn’t done since Howard and not since then, and yes, we were also skint during those years.

Part of the frustration is in the hope of the new stadium, new owners, a chance to reset and then we are looking at a squad with some old names that really should not be there. Giving Seamus a playing contract is a bit daft as well. He can’t seem to warm up at this point without injuring himself. I get it can’t all be done at once but Moyes is proving again that his default is to be risk averse. Why not bring in a younger lad with potential and spend the wages there. We have 3 other centre backs.

In fairness he came on against city and was absolutely awful
