Victor Anichebe was delighted to score once more for Everton.

The 20 year old opened the scoring in the 2-2 draw with Birmingham yesterday afternoon, capping off a fine Everton move with a left footed thunderbolt that flew past Joe Hart in the Birmingham net. Speaking after the match, Anichebe spoke of his happiness to get back on the scoresheet after his injury lay off.

"It feels really good to get that goal because I was out for so long," Anichebe told evertonTV. "I forgot what it felt like to score!

"We have been practising that in training so it was good to bring something from the training ground onto the pitch. It just shows that if you work hard in training then it pays off."

The Nigerian international also commented on the disappointment of letting a two goal lead slip, and the possibility of European football next season.

"We are disappointed because at 2-0 up we thought we were cruising but then they got a fortunate goal so that spurred the crowd on and it spurred them on to push forward.

"We got a point though and St. Andrew's is a very hard place to come to," Anichebe continued. "We need to put this behind us and look forward to the next game against Bolton.

"We have still got belief that we can finish high in the table. We have got a good run from now until the end of the season.

"All the games are going to be tough because even if we do play a team near the bottom of the table they are going to be fighting to stay up."

Moyes : Sloppy goals cost us

David Moyes feels that although Everton played some very good football today, it was the concession of two sloppy goals that cost his team all three points at St Andrews.

"At times our football was very good, but we let in a couple of sloppy goals and that was our downfall," said the boss.

"Our play was good and we were in total control, but then we got sloppy and that gave Birmingham a lifeline.

"The injuries to Tim Cahill and Victor Anichebe don't look too bad."
