Ive had tickets for City sitting next to my mate who's a season ticket holder and we scored. I gave my mate a gentle dig in the ribs but kept my mouth shut.

If one of our players mates or families where in the Arsenal home end and it happened, Im pretty sure most of us would be saying, "Soft gets, what did they do that for"

Aaaaanyway.

It is ugly and it has probably lost us a £30m investment.

Should get close to £20m in Spain, although I see him going on a season long loan somewhere if his wages are high.

There appears to be more context which alters the discussion somewhat for me. If true, and I’ve no reason to doubt it as he will know the people involved directly, then this seems like truly despicable behaviour.

I really struggle to see how anyone would mistake disappointment for celebration.

I know there's a massive difference in doing it and thinking it, but I can't believe @AjaxAndy when you say you've never thought about battering someone at the match

Obviously I'd never do it but I definitely think it. Against spurs this season I was unfortunately sat near the aways and i wanted to batter all of them.

Also, Barry's mates haven't been battered. There's a difference in some scrapping and getting battered.

It shouldn't have happened but also they shouldn't be sat in there and celebrate goals for opposition.

He’s just an Instagram footballer for me, not cut out for the physicality of English football and sulks too much. In his little purple patch I thought I might have gotten him wrong, but even then, some of the goals were down to good fortune more than anything else.
Goes down in the long long list of flunks.

I agree they shouldn't have been in there, and having sat in the home end many times watching us play at Newcastle and Sunderland I've always been extremely cautious of blending in and not alerting anyone to my support of the opposition. It's common sense at the end of the day.

But I also can't understand the furore of our fans saying he needs to be booted out the club, how he's offended the entire fanbase and away support etc... they were still assaulted and he's only had a go at the idiots who did it.

Big overreaction by our fans imo to the whole thing, and also a lack of acknowledgement that a crime was committed and that the real focus should be on those who did it, and how they should be banned and prosecuted.

Again, it's just not so black and white for me. All parties are in the wrong i think.

It is all well and good saying no matter what, no one should get punched at the footy, but thats not reality and being goaded from opposition fans isnt going to go down well. Thats not ok, and people cant just hit people but also, theres more nuance.

If i was in the away end and mocking, id expect to get a smack.

I expect charges will be made and our fanbase will embarrass itself even further.

was stood next to the group of black fans that were attacked. I was told that they were family/friends of our players before KO.... they looked like 2 or three different family groups, but they may have all been together. I didn't see any of them celebrate the goals (but there were a couple behind too, so I could've missed it), but one of them made the stupid decision to film the ground as Arsenal celebrated the goal, and everyone around reacted. The 3 next to me (looked like a man and wife with teenage son) looked pretty scared tbh.... amd there were a few racist shouts too. I managed to calm the loons trying to get to them in our row, but it was coming from all around by then.... and the black lads further along were having to defend themselves from behind and in front.... so it quickly began to escalate a bit. Stewards and police started to intervene and it got dragged further along the row. The few remaining near me waited for it to calm down before leaving. Not very pleasant tbh. I'm assuming that they may have been his family/friends.... seemed to be a mixture of accents.

I've no idea if any were Arsenal fans Tbh, but I can't say anything really, I've sat with home fans all over the place and mostly got away with it. Wasn't pleasant seeing the rascist stuff and the family group looking terrified though.
