Grealish has been photographed out on long benders before, it's why Pep dropped him after the treble.

I don't believe for a second he just has a couple of beers every now and then and is just a bit of a lightweight.

As I've said though, it's fine providing we don't sign him permanently and we buy a competent backup for when he misses 50% of the season.

If we do sign him were more likely to miss Branthwaite who presumably never has more than half a shandy for 50% of the season than Grealish, check this out at tge end of next season.

From the age of 27 he's only managed 20 league games each season, so I'd argue it has cost him, and probably does matter.

The physical demands on the elite footballer are immense and if you do stuff that's negative to achieving the goal of being in absolute peak condition, including recovery, then it'll bite you on the arse. That seems to have set in at a fairly early age for him.

Being able to run for 90 mins without looking shot is one thing, not breaking down after 50% of a season another.

But anyway probably going round in circles, he's a hugely talented fella and a joy to watch so there's that side too

20 games a year for the past three years should mean he has more left in the tank than most players his age.

Yeah tbf he missed 66 days in 23/24 due to injury and only 7 in 24/25.

Vs 137 days with us.

Hard to really judge how much he'd have been injured or not had Pep played him more.

It's definitely an unknown how he'll get on next season if he's with us (think he will be). Maybe he's more robust than I'm giving him credit for, but definitely still think we should be buying a backup for him regardless as just a sensible transfer strategy.

If it forces us to look elsewhere and sign a pacy wide man then tbh I'm not particularly gutted.

I can see why the club would sign him if we could, but in terms of balance and being able to counter effectively he doesn't fit what we need.
