Goes down in the long long list of flunks.

Felt like it was taking a bit of a victory lap in his purple patch which looks silly now hes regressed back to the mean and lost his place to beto. I dont much like him even without him being not very good at football

Every game I want to kick someone's head in.

Obviously I'd never do it but I definitely think it. Against spurs this season I was unfortunately sat near the aways and i wanted to batter all of them.

Also, Barry's mates haven't been battered. There's a difference in some scrapping and getting battered.

It shouldn't have happened but also they shouldn't be sat in there and celebrate goals for opposition.
Surely this isn’t a normal emotion to feel at a game of football?

I’ve sat by the away fans for eight years, and never felt like battering any of them.

There’s levels of intensity and frustration, of course, but this can’t be normal for the majority?

Maybe it’s me that’s out of touch but I’am very surprised by how normal everyone seems to think what happened on Saturday is.

It went beyond way getting a smack didn’t it?

I didn't see any of them celebrate the goals (but there were a couple behind too, so I could've missed it), but one of them made the stupid decision to film the ground as Arsenal celebrated the goal, and everyone around reacted. The 3 next to me (looked like a man and wife with teenage son) looked pretty scared tbh.... amd there were a few racist shouts too. I managed to calm the loons trying to get to them in our row, but it was coming from all around by then.... and the black lads further along were having to defend themselves from behind and in front.... so it quickly began to escalate a bit. Stewards and police started to intervene and it got dragged further along the row. The few remaining near me waited for it to calm down before leaving. Not very pleasant tbh. I'm assuming that they may have been his family/friends.... seemed to be a mixture of accents.

I've no idea if any were Arsenal fans Tbh, but I can't say anything really, I've sat with home fans all over the place and mostly got away with it. Wasn't pleasant seeing the rascist stuff and the family group looking terrified though.

That’s been posted on another forum from someone who was there.
Yeah if this is on the mark then this isn't a good look at all. I can't imagine the families of other players involved are too happy either if they've been on the receiving end of racist abuse.

Clearly his agent has written a statement for him. Not sure about it.

Should have been advised to stay off socials and let things play out.

Part ways in the summer. Buy a replacement of better quality. Move on.

And for that reason someone in the club should have been getting a grip of everyone involved and saying any comments to any kind of media need to come from the club only and through official channels.

We don't need players giving a running commentary on matters that may result in criminal charges and damage the reputation of the club.

I think anyone referring to either of the videos shown as someone getting a 'smack' is minimising assault.

Also now we have racist abuse thrown in too... It's extremely grim, and I don't think it should be underplayed.

Any other walk of life people would be outraged about it, so just because it's inside a football stadium shouldn't make it anything else imo.

Barry's update, whilst a bit convoluted, did make me think that racism has probably played no small part in this to be honest.

Without actually being there it feels hard to know as we are obviously getting multiple accounts. That latest post does sound pretty grim. I genuinely can't tell that much from the videos.

Just talking about him as a player, I think this something that can be addressed by the club and everyone can move on from. I don't see why it has to be the end for Barry at Everton. Not the same, but we've had some other incidents this season like Keane/Gueye which was bizarre and it settled down pretty quickly and everyone moved on from it. Feels like it's only being brought up because his form has been patchy this season and Moyes doesn't exactly seem to be enthused my him, so it's a bit square peg in round hole currently. Had he taken like a duck to water this season and scored 10 goals already I doubt anyone would mention the moving him on after this.

Having been to away games, and spent time in the company of a lot of the away day crew, I have no doubt a few black people with accents in our away end has provoked a reaction.

That away end can be brutal for anyone who isn’t even scouse.

Somewhere in between what Barry has posted and what has been said on social media is the truth.

Looks like there's more pushing and shoving and shouting and pointing than anything else, there's some punches getting thrown but nothing seems to land too well and as far as I know no one has been hurt, it might be more than a slap but it doesn't look to me like a big brawl people are making it out be. See these type of things all the time and no one bats an eyelid. I'd be more concerned about the racism than anything in that video, it even has the mandatory young bellends near the end pretending to be hard but doing just enough to keep their distance.
