I’d give that a whirl, wouldn’t be opposed to starting Seamus either, if/when he breaks down then bring big Jake on, we need to try something.

I see Moyes drooling over Palace's system in the post match interviews, and gets me thinking...

Difference is Palace have a load of pace to make it work and a striker who can hold it up

We don’t have any of that

Maybe by seasons end (yep, I’d play Keane instead of Tarkowski right now on form, and I’m hoping that Barry, Dibling, Aznou and Röhl all get chances and make themselves undroppable, although I know it’s unlikely)

Pickford
O’Brien Keane Branthwaite
Dibling Gana Röhl Aznou

I like the idea of 3-4-3 until we get modern day full backs in.

If you watch back the game yesterday it wasn't that Mateta was magically holding the ball up, it's that he wasn't under as much pressure from our CBs as they couldn't follow him as we were wary of the threat in behind of Pinot/Sarr/Munoz/Mitchell. Often Matata was receiving the ball with nobody within 5 yards.

Compare that to Barry/Beto trying to take in the ball with a defender or two touch tight on them and it's a way harder job. None of our wide options run beyond so opposition defences can just squeeze squeeze squeeze.

I guess my point is that even though Barry/Beto obviously have issues, if you drop Mateta into our lineup yesterday I don't think we look very different.

14th in the table now, not looking great. We’ve been here before with Moyes though and I back him to turn things around and get higher up the table.

It might require injuries though to one or two of the regulars before he realises some of the bench players are actually very good when utilised in a certain position or so.

However big difference this time around is no Kenwright to protect him, I’m not so sure Friedkin or Kinnear will have the same amount of patience if we continue to slide down the table.

Moyes stuck in one of his ruts in terms of team selection and patterns of play, need to change it up.

Not sure he will anytime soon though.

It usually takes a couple of injuries for Moyes to make any changes and stumble across a winning formula. Not that I'm wanting anyone injured but I'm not expecting him to change too much if their isn't any.

Moyes won’t change. He teased us a little last season but now we’re back to the same old same old. Miserable to watch.

Hes another we are counting down the clock on. 2 more seasons then we can be more progressive. Just writing off year after year but never really building the foundations for this better future because we add more poor decisions each year

I’m not counting down the clock.

He’s done a good job.

Everton 14th in the league after nine games. So what like.
