How come?
Carlos Alcaraz
Re: Carlos Alcaraz
He can't dislodge Doucoure from the number 10 position.
So he can't defend as well as a finished Doucoure, and he can't attack well enough to make up for it.
Don't think Moyes goes for that. Diminutive number 10 who isn't currently doing enough to dislodge a big man at the end of his career? Tells us enough about both Alcaraz and Moyes.
Re: Carlos Alcaraz
Nah he just need to continue his development, it's a good price and he has enough potential to take the gamble.
Re: Carlos Alcaraz
Give David Moyes £15m and see if he spends it on a little guy who does nothing but "continues his development".
You'll get a 26 year old big man and you'll bloody like it.
Re: Carlos Alcaraz
He bought Cahill for the same role from first division Milwall. Hardly the finished article when he came here.
He sort of made his name at Everton by way of a number of young leftield signings that turned out to be gold. I could list them but we all know them.
I dont see the argument that he only signs journeymen.

Re: Carlos Alcaraz
Not sure that's what he's saying, more that he'll only play and buy people who fit the mould or have potential to, and that us not seeing much of him so far suggests moyes might not be too keen and he's more likely to go for a different profile of player in that position.Matt1878 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:33 pm He bought Cahill for the same role from first division Milwall. Who knows, maybe he does see a future for him here, but not with the other players we have playing in the first 11 at the moment. There's lots of weak areas in the team and I'd imagine doucs covering 10k a game and being a nuisance covers up for some of that, even if the rest of his output is crap at times.
Re: Carlos Alcaraz
Yeah thats fair,. He's created lots of speculation over his loan terms and Moyes' opinion of him, you can sense the potential the fans see in him.UnsyisaRhino wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:43 pm Not sure that's what he's saying, more that he'll only play and buy people who fit the mould or have potential to, and that us not seeing much of him so far suggests moyes might not be too keen and he's more likely to go for a different profile of player in that position.

I think he has a lot to offer and in a top 6 team he'd offer far more the Doucs, maybe one for the future and maybe Moyes doesnt have that luxury right now. I do hope we sign him, regardless.

Re: Carlos Alcaraz
I dunno. I was very pro-Alcaraz. I like this style of player a great deal, but he’s not affecting games enough. Now I’m slipping into that type of conversation we’ve had about numerous players over the years - Is he good enough/Will he develop/What’s his ceiling? The trouble is, we very rarely have those conversations about players who come good.
Early days, like his style, but as Brap says - he’s not doing enough to get in the team and maybe the manager has a good idea of his level already.

Re: Carlos Alcaraz
I just think we arent giving him a chance to play in his natural position.
I disagree with Brap Moyes used a lot of diminutive players during his tenure. I mean Pienaar and Osman basically nailed on starters for a decade.
I hope the othet two teams go down soon so Moyes can maybe play a bit more risk free.

Re: Carlos Alcaraz
You're a fickle bunch.. there was a general buzz 2 pages back, then 75 minutes away to Liverpool, 15 minute sub against Arsenal and the enthusiasm has drained right away!
He hasnt even made his home debut yet!

Re: Carlos Alcaraz
I'm not really commenting on the player. I just feel like Moyes isn't massively convinced.

Yeah, I did read that and interpreted it as such BD.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 8:49 am I'm not really commenting on the player. I just feel like Moyes isn't massively convinced.
I've been wrong about plenty of signings.. I thought Besic was going to be a superstar. But if Charlie stays and remains fit he'll reach 15 in goals and assists next season. I'll be the first to quote it if he turns out shite.

Yeah maybe, he'd be starting today if so. Harrison and Doucoure again.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 8:49 am I'm not really commenting on the player. I just feel like Moyes isn't massively convinced.
