I wouldn’t be surprised if Amorim is sacked very soon. For a manager to say this is probably the worst team in the history of the club, I just wonder how the current players will respond.

Re: Man Utd - relegation?
You can see why he didn't want to come until the summer as well, but they gave him the ultimatum (perhaps rightly so).
I don't think there's any way to get this squad playing in a cohesive way. You can get them in a low block and counter but what's the point in that? Any coach can set that up. Think Amorim is correct to play his way and it's almost like a 6 month audition for most of these players.
Massive changes required in the summer. Whatever you think of him, the fact Harry Maguire is playing for Man United in 2025 probably sums up the state of them.
Beyond Amad, the rest of them are expendable and I include Fernandes in that. I'm sure Hojlund/Zirkzee/Mainoo/Yoro would all come on with a more solid team around them as well. The majority of the rest they need to get rid.
Not that I'm bothered about United being shit. Long may it continue.

I do rather enjoy them being shit.
The fact they're shit should mean the likes of Brighton, Villa etc should be getting more media coverage than them, but they're not because football is irreversibly monopolised. Hate it.

I said over a year ago there is no way in hell that Trump wins the next general election.
So I'll just say this:
There is no way in hell that Man Utd gets relegated this season.

Re: Man Utd - relegation?
They won't get relegated but it's going to be a rough end to the season for them... They just need to stick with Amorin though imo, sell the problem players and those who aren't the required standard and let him build over a few seasons.
There's nothing to be gained changing manager again, they need to accept they're 3-5 years away from probably even qualifying for the Champions League providing they do almost everything right.

You're not wrong but there isn't the remotest possibility he's still there in 3 years if they don't make the CL in that time.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 5:45 pm They won't get relegated but it's going to be a rough end to the season for them... In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

Absolutely bonkers what they’ve become. Just shows you how damaging it is that a single person makes all the footballing decisions for so long then leaves. We’ve seen it first have with Moyes V.1.

Re: Man Utd - relegation?
I'm not sure that's it. I mean Ferguson you have to say did his job. It was up to those who came after him to do theirs. It wasn't like they started in a terrible position either, creaky perhaps, but it's just slowly been eroded away.Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:40 pm Absolutely bonkers what they’ve become. At any time those above him could've stepped in to adjust how things were running under Ferguson, they just lacked the willingness to do so. Could have had someone shadow his process or whatever. The failures as we see with other clubs too (ourselves included) are when people are making decisions without the requisite knowledge necessary. Sometimes with the betterment of the commercial side of the football club in mind over the footballing side. Often priortising short term fixes over long term planning.
What it mostly comes down to is the people at the top making poor choices and hiring (plus crucially overpaying) the wrong people be it players, coaches or general management. The overpaying is one of the crucial parts in all this as it essentially handcuffs people and decisions down the line.

Re: Man Utd - relegation?
I think what happens all too often is when you've got someone like Ferguson for United or Moyes for us, someone who runs the show for over a decade, the other leaders of the club slack off. They basically forget how to govern the club because they didn't have to do any of that shit for years.
