Dwight McNeil
Re: Dwight McNeil
Wherever Harrison is standing on the pitch is where McNeil should be fitting in when he comes back.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Also even if McNeil isn't a starter under Moyes he's a very useful squad player so wouldn't be selling him.
Re: Dwight McNeil
In a summer where we’re looking at needing about 7 players, selling McNeil is daft.brap2 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:11 am Lots of talk on toffee TV about where does he fit when he's back.
It's a good point. He doesn't start over iliman, he isn't good enough to be your ten next year and he doesn't really do the Doucoure stuff.
He's not fast enough to be a LW, not open play enough to be a ten, can't play 8 or 6, not good enough defender to be a LB.
Would be very happy if we could move on in the summer I think, sell to someone coming up who wants some cracking deliveries?
Re: Dwight McNeil
Moyes will probably stick him on the right, feel like until Mirallas rocked up then he never bothered with a player there in his first spell here anyway!
Re: Dwight McNeil
Gets in the team ahead of lindstrom and Harrison if he’s fit anyway.
He has a big role to play. He’s one of the very few players we have who’s young and actually decent.
Take lindstrom and Harrison out who won’t be here next season and we only have two players who can play out wide.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Relegate him to squad player, I doubt we will be signing Harrison permanently.
He can be back up to Illiman on the left.
Whether or not Moyes signs Lindstrom or not, invest in 1/2 right wingers.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Nah don't agree with that at all, if you can make money on someone who doesn't feel like a good fit for the system then do it.
Re: Dwight McNeil
I'd rather watch Lindstrom any day of the weekTheRam wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:43 am Gets in the team ahead of lindstrom and Harrison if he’s fit anyway.

Re: Dwight McNeil
In a summer where we need a lot of players why give ourselves extra work by selling a perfectly fine player?
Improve on him and sign a better player but keep McNeil as a first team player.
He’s more than ok for us.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Yeah but set pieces don’t count as assists and pinging in 30 yarders isn’t sustainable…
Re: Dwight McNeil
All good points to be fair and I will admit it sounds crazy. McNeil has consistently delivered goals and assists, but I prefer watching Lindstrom and think if it clicks for him he's a different level to McNeil...
Maybe I am wrong, I wouldn't put the house on it like. 0g+a is not the kind of thing I would usually ignore.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Mc Neil is our best midfielder who isn't named Gueye imo. Ndiaye close to him like, his ability is overlooked because he isn't fast
Re: Dwight McNeil
I'm not a huge fan of McNeil, and I've never quite understood what type of player he is. But I would be interested to see if he'd look a better player in our current side compared to what we've largely seen of him under Dyche. Even under Dyche there's been spells where he's started to look like a he could be a very decent player, but he's never maintained it over more than 3/4 games.
On the basis that pretty much every player is performing better now it seems likely that we'd be seeing a better version of McNeil too.
