Jesper Lindstrom
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I didn't see the game last night but would be interested to know if those who don't want us to sign Lindstrom would be open to it if he wasn't asked to play RW / RWB week in week out?
£20m isn't a lot these days for a versatile player who can cover multiple positions, so as a squad player who split his time between AM, CM, RW, LW and RWB he's a very useful addition but maybe not a starter in let's face it playing out of position.
I'd be more than happy to see him rotating with Alcaraz and Ndaiye with the occasional filling in at RW / RWB rather than us spending additional money on further squad players to cover each of those positions... Could mean the difference between spending £20m and £50m-£60m + additional wages for 2-3 players instead.
Or are people just not convinced he's worth £20m as a versatile squad player?

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
Entirely dependent on how much we can spend this summer - we have massive gaps in the starting lineup so proposing spending twenty mil on somebody who you are already planning to be a rotation/bench option only seems crazy to me.AjaxAndy wrote:I didn't see the game last night but would be interested to know if those who don't want us to sign Lindstrom would be open to it if he wasn't asked to play RW / RWB week in week out?
Especially when you compare to some of the players available for free in the summer like Walker-Peters, Lamptey, Reguilon, Adama Traore, Angel Gomes etc
All of whom are about the same level as Lindstrom but free.
The only argument I can see for keeping him is to reduce the amount of squad turnover given how much we’ve had
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I disagree on £20mil not being a lot actually. I think we've wasted a lot of 20 mils and we need to move away from making those mistakes.
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
£20m in isolation isn't peanuts I agree, but for me it's a case of essentially buying 4 players for that price (AM, LW, RW, RWB) Vs spending however much on buying multiple players to cover those positions.
So to me that's good business and uses the £20m well.
I'm probably swayed by the fact though I think he'd come good under Moyes as a duel 10, but even if not I feel spending that £20m on a versatile squad player is still good use of the money.
Probably all comes down to if you see anything in the player though, and I know a lot don't, albeit imo partially at least because of the role he's asked to play which isn't his natural one not one I'd want him starting in next season.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I wouldn't.
He isn't strong enough, he isn't tricky enough, fast enough...he doesn't have a killer pass, his crosses are generally rubbish.
I'm not 100% sure what he does.
One great game in a hundred isn't worth it.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I'm still flip-flopping on this. Last night he just wasn't in the game at all. So many times he just completely switched off, and Ait Nouri had drifted 30 yards forward untracked. Even his assist he didn't mean.Goaljira wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 3:57 pm Played a key ball in the build up for the second. We might be able to get better for the money if we're lucky, but when we've got to try and bed in potentially a lot of others I think its worth buying him for next season at least as a known quantity. We'd be able to recoup most of that in a years time if he doesn't fit in.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
He doesn't appear to be very good in multiple positions. Don't think he's worth anywhere close to 20m. Think he's the type of bland nothingy attacking player we need to move away from.
If we sign him we will be talking about replacing him from moment 1.

I don't think he's what we need going forward. Too inconsistent for me at that price, same as Harrison

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
Unless he has a storming end to the season, he hasn't done nearly enough to convince Moyes. He all but said that the other day about Lindstrom and Harrison - something to the tune of ''you won't last very long with me with no goals or assists, as an attacking player''.
Basically made his mind up about both of them already.

To be fair one got a goal and the other an assist last game - superb man management!Bluedylan1 wrote:Unless he has a storming end to the season, he hasn't done nearly enough to convince Moyes.
