We where on a plane back from Amsterdam as this game was being played.

My kopite mate all weekend and on the plane was giving it loads saying fellaini was an absolute bag of shite, over rated and garbage etc.

We didn't realise the score until we landed. Perfect ammo to hit him with that on the taxi back,he was class that day.

Whaaaat :o
The bird was, in fact, more than it seemed. Created by a staff member at the stadium - some posit as long as 15 years ago - it was an object largely crafted from wire and left in the window frame all those years ago.

1966 world cup. Eusebio with a hat trick at Goodison. Pele scoring at Goodison and a great free-kick from Garrincha too. Hard to comprehend just how steeped in history Goodison is.

Wow, I’ve never actually seen the footage before.

Im pretty sure england were supposed to play their semi final here as well but decided last minute they didn’t want to play up north.

That Portugal North Korea match looked amazing! So many chances for both sides. The Brazil Bulgaria match was a dog fight! 😂

I remember watching a documentary about Eusebio and he was saying when the England vs Portugal game wasn't at Goodison they were all gutted because they thought it was lucky for them.

Having beaten the favourites Brazil and coming back im that North Korea game.

Hosted three FA Cup semi-finals in the 1970s/80s

Plus a couple of Northern Ireland home games in 1973

And - 55 years ago today...

I miss the travelling semi-finals.

Really grates on me the "booked a trip to Wembley" narrative of winning a quarter final.

Totally agree. I hate how it's just become totally normalised that the semis are at Wembley now.

Four.

Apart from it being great for two teams to play at a neutral club ground, it offers a venue closer than west London for the vast majority of teams.

But fan safety and convenience can go fuck itself when there's money to be had.

To be fair, you can't argue with a semi regardless of the location

Anyone else this the club has been absolutely shite in making this last season something great?

If it wasn't for the 1878s this season would have been miserable.
