I have not spoken on behalf of anyone.
It’s 2025, you don’t need to actively live in a city to understand how a fanbase feels about something.
I’ve seen in on social media, I’ve seen the articles from people like Luke edwards essentially becoming a mouthpiece for the Saudis, I saw the celebrations, I’ve seen the reaction towards the only fan group to speak out about this.
I personally believe fans needs to stand up to this more otherwise our game will be completely gone if we don’t.
The Saudis don’t want to separate the sport from the politics so why should we.
You want other football fans to be happy for them. Why?
A lot of football fans have seen their club overtaken by a team owned by the richest country in the world. Why would we be happy for them?
You said this is so much better than the established elite winning a trophy. Newcastle are the established elite. They’re the richest club in the world.
None of this is good for the game as a whole in the country and long term it won’t be good for Newcastle as a club.
Honestly you think you understand Newcastle supporters because of stuff you've seen online FFS. I literally am surrounded by normal every day Newcastle fans, your take on them is about as accurate as someone up here would be with ours, just very very based on a slanted viewpoint from what is shown online. In reality it probably makes up less than 10% of the actual fanbase and their views. But Ram knows best for course.
I'm not even asking you to be happy for them, my point was how much it meant to the fans, and there's no denying that. I'd rather a team win where it brings genuine joy to the supporters than seeing someone like Liverpool win when they think the trophy is third rate. You might not want them to win because of their ownership which is perfectly fine, but also supporters don't choose owners so for those who've followed their team through dark times then I'm not going deny them their joy, especially when I see it here in person, I see it in my son's face, his mate's, the kids walking to school in their kits... I'm happy for those people.
We're talking definition with 'established elite', money wise yes, regular glory no. Maybe things will change but PSR will always try prevent Newcastle joining what I'd term the established elite, but again my definition is different to yours, I can't be arsed splitting hairs over that tbh.
Anyway that's my final post on this to save another endless back and forth. I'll continue to simultaneously enjoy seeing the pure joy on my kid's face, his mate's and will enjoy listening to the dads from my son's football team regaling me with their stories of being at Wembley when I see them on Friday, whilst also believing Saudi or any state with human rights issues, or any owner with a criminal or oligarchy past has no place in our football clubs.
