I dread.to think of the wages Ben White would ask for... Much much better value for money elsewhere, and better profile of both ages and style of player available imo

Almost every time I’ve seen Ben White of late he’s switched off and the opposition have got in behind.

Feels like he’s another centre back playing right back, without the same instincts of a natural right back.

A very questionable list of players all around though. Delap? Maybe Moyes can get a better tune out of him, but overall I just don’t love that list.

Really think delap would be a silly risk at the numbers involved. 20m and 50 or 60k a week would be where id be comfortable. Might be double that

Dislike Delap but I have no doubt Moyes could sort him out. Think he'd slot in well if his attitude was straightened.

If Stones was on a pay as you play deal then I wouldn't hate it. We need players who have won stuff and have worked under very high expectations so it could run through the squad. Just not sure he's still got it, but he's a lot younger than Weir and Gough were... different game and all.

Wasn’t he Moyes last signing? And did he ever play in first team for him, I’m not sure he did.

£30m seems to be the general consensus - Chelsea want to recoup their money.
I think that is fair enough to be honest.
But i'm not sure i'd want to be paying the £100-150k wages he is probably expecting.

Especially when i think it will be another striker that will have "double figures" as an absolute stretch-goal

Chelsea can’t expect to recoup their money, just as much as we can’t with Barry or Beto.

That's what gets peoples backs up - they do expect and and they do get it.
It's why there was a sense of unease around KDH. They paid Leicester about £30m.
He sat there, didn't do a whole lot really and then we came along and paid something like £28m for him.

It felt unfair - in hindsight i'm made up we did. But Chelease do get to keep running this game on the league.

Yeah its the wages mainly. Hes on 150k a week apparently. He isn't going to be accepting half of that.

Re: Stones

To be fair his price was artificially low because of the clause. If hes worth 30m thats what hes worth, its not really about what chelsea paid. Got 12 last season but only 1 this? Im not sure that makes 30m though. I think even at that its a bit much.

30m and 50k a week for his potential isnt so bad but hes on treble that. I cant see an argument for a long term commitment on 100k a week plus.

We should push for a loan.

Woud much rather Nathan Ake who can slot in at centre half and left back and who looks like he is surplus to requirements with 12 months left on his contract.

Moyes has form for getting all of the good remaining football out of an aging centre back.

They do need to be fit enough to play regularly, though.

Would likely be an upgrade to swap Keane’s contributions out for Ake or a fit Stones. Not sure fit Stones is a thing, mind you.

Can see him not giving a shit once he’s not at a massive club like Arsenal.
Same old shit over again though, bringing in a square peg to plug a round hole. Ben White is a centre half, not a full back.

Stones is a fantastic player, on the very rare occasion that he happens to be fit and that's the big, big problem. We don't have the financial wiggle room to be bringing in great players who will only be fit for half a dozen games a season. Maybe if we could get him a replacement set of legs, he'd be worth a gamble. As good as he is, we don't need him laid on a treatment table for the majority of the season. All that ability, but the best ability is AVAILability.
