24th Jan is the proposed closure date with the place redeveloped for housing although exact dates might alter.

Not a surprise to anyone but still feels significant. So many memories from there and it's where me and my sister absolutely crammed in, watched the Soton game in May.

Managed to take the littlest one in for a sit down pint prior to the women's game v Forest so photos of her in there already done.

Time moves on I know but I can't imagine a time where BMD or any boozer that springs up near there ever meaning half as much to people of my generation (44) as Goodison and the Winslow.

So sad really

That's really sad, I'll miss one last visit as well as my next game will be the Leeds game on the 26th

It does feel odd that I'll never be doing that walk for a good while and how it's gonna effect that whole area really.

Place might be unrecognisable in 5-10 years time as lots of those pubs and bars will shut down.

Not a surprise really, there will be a lot more that have relied on matchday income and little else that will now struggle. I was quite surprised that it didn't seem to open other than matchdays though, we did the Goodison tour last year and thought we'd pop on for a drink after it but it was shut. It's just too much income lost to try and replace with anything else.

The boozers around there will all perish, ss with the chippies and corner shops who relied on the match trade. Goodison won't be there long either, once the emotions fade. I still miss the Blue House , but different times now. Sad to see the history replaced, but we have golden memories

End of an era.
The Oak before and the Netley after was always our usual routine when I went as a kid, but the Winslow always felt like part of the ground almost.
Sad times.

My favourite memory was being in there at about 2:30 and John Clinkard came running in looking for Alan Harper, back in the days of one sub, one of the players got injured in the warm up, and they needed him to go on the bench, he must have been a few beers in by then.

My mate Col, who is 25 years older than me is adamant he was in there when Alan Cork came in for a pre match quick one before playing for Wimbledon. It's one of those tales he's told so many times it's either true or he's convinced himself it is by now.

Was one of those players who at every stage of his career he looked about 45.

My only visit was before the 4-4 derby.

Remember sneaking in there years ago when I was about 15 with me mates before a game and we all got kicked out….before leaving Liverpool in 1978 i called in there again after a game for a thing to must do before I left and actually bumped into one of me mates hadn’t seen him for ages…..hadn’t been in since but about 5years ago me son who didn’t drink so we never went in wanted to go to see what it was like before the game ( we used to go the brick) so we did and I actually bumped into the same mate again couldn’t believe it…..good memories….

Never went in myself. Massive shame but almost inevitable really, won't be the only business closing because of the drop in footfall.

It would be an exaggeration to say I went every game I came up to because there were plenty of run to the turnstiles games midweek when tickets were easier to get and we piled up straight after work but there wouldn't be many weekend games where I didn't go in for a pint. I'm not a big drinker particularly but loved the decor and the history of the place and I could picture faces no longer about in there.

My phone sent me an album (as they do) yesterday from pictures I've taken in there on previous visits including my shot of a picture on the wall of Super Kev pulling a pint in there. I must have just been being sentimental and emotional because I 100% wasn't in there whatever day Kev turned up behind the bar and don't remember specifically thinking to take a picture of that picture!

The Winny was always good for tickets to sold out games, turn left as you go in and the first table on the left, a scrap of paper with a gate number on, go to that gate and the lad on the turnstile let you in, you had to stand at the back for 10 minutes then see what seats were empty.
