I love this photo from the other day, how much credit we giving Baines here?

I just like the idea of Baines being a mentor to him though.

Sample size of two. Villa and City. Played both from the start in an young side alongside Tim. Both games they were the best two players on the pitch. Both then relegated to the bench in favour of Gana and McNeil.

We sure Moyes knows what he is doing with our young lads?

There's always a decent chance we kept him out of the side whilst he grew back his luscious locks.

The rumour doing the rounds was that Moyes and the club hadn’t signed-off on him going back to Germany to have hernia surgery, back in February or whatever it was. He played soon after at Villa cos we literally had about 14 fit players, but he’s been in the dog house since.

Trying to be careful not to go overboard and defend him without knowing the details, but that just seems a bit…unlikely?

Doesn’t really seem the type to pull a Lukaku move, but I guess you never know. Given how we’ve used other peripheral players this season, I’d probably still lean towards just Moyes easing him in due to age (he still can look a bit raw at times even in the game last night), preferring established players, new country for him and of course the initial injuries.

Either way, I hope the operation has meant he can move on from those persistent issues he was having and with bedding in behind him we get to see more of him going forward. Also, let’s hope Dibling has a similar emergence from his sideline chrysalis.

He absolutely eats up the ground and surely has to be a better option at right back than big Jake?

Has a good tackle, great stamina, pace and dribbling. He has definately done enough for me for him to stay in the side along with Tim. It’s about players coming in and taking their chances and they have both done that.

I dont think I'd want him in the full back positions, he lost his marker lots of times in defensive situations last night

Yeah struggled against Doku a few times. Get him in CM, but then the question is who out of Tim, KDH and Garner does he replace?

I think really next season we just need to split time between Tim and Rohl, give them both plenty of minutes and not keep Gana around to hamper their development.

Moyes will find things for him to do.

If there’s one thing that man loves, it’s a utility midfielder. Especially one who can be credibly squeezed into traditionally creative positions.

There arent many that dont struggle against Doku.

I would give up some defensive stability for a real attacking threat at RB. You can teach defensive positioning but you cant teach a desire and ability to get forward (please see Myko at LB). I am just so surprised with Rohls pace that we have to use it, especially given that we aren’t a particularly fast side.

It’s also a good place to learn the game whilst not being too central to how the game pans out. Would rather have Tim over Rohl at the moment in the middle as he has that bit more experience where it’s most needed.

I can sort of understand it a little for a decent chunk of the season as he not had the best injury record. He came in late in the window, got injured pretty quickly, then had the surgery which hopefully has corrected the issue but if we were trying to rehab him so these issues can be mostly behind him I could understand why he missed half the season.

Anyhow, time to look forward with him hopefully, get a proper pre-season under him and get him playing more often next season.

Also personally I’d leave out Gueye next game too even if fit and see if both he and Tim can build on their performances. If Tim is fit that is. Have to reward positive displays with not getting dropped straight away.
