Mate I’m not talking about an entire fanbase, just the sportswashing tactics. They of course will be gathering bookings here and there, but it’s the normalisation of them being part of fan culture that’s the medium and long term aim.
Yeah of course it's an issue, I've never said anything else. We all know what they're doing but I also never understand why some (obviously not you) love to lump every day supporters in to the conversation. Two completely separate things.
Sports washing is real, it's dangerous and it's allowed to happen... It could easily have been us not them in this situation and we'd have had no way of stopping it either. They won't be the last, it could still potentially happen to us once the Friedkins flip us down the line, they're already showing with Roma they don't care who they sell to.
Who would stop that happening? We'd not like it but we'd also eventually have to accept it and I know for a fact we'd all still support the players and team. I don't think anything stops what they're doing, the horse has very much bolted.

It's not though, we'd not be able to stop it so are you honestly telling me you'd not ever watch another match, you'd not celebrate if we won a trophy?
Even if you somehow washed your hands of the club also you think a high number of people would do likewise? They wouldn't, the vast majority, 95% at least would separate the two sides of the club in their minds and continue to support the team.
None of that makes it right and doesn’t mean we should just sit back and not call it out.
It’s such a shit argument. This isn’t about the fanbase as a whole.
It’s about what’s happening to the club and the direction football is heading in.
If this was to happen at Everton I’d hate it and would struggle to be a part of it. If people want to ignore it and just get behind the club, then fine, but you have to accept the club you’ve supported for years will eventually be lost.

That's the whole point though isn't it, it's not about the whole fanbase... If we agree on that and we agree on sports washing then I'm not sure what we're even arguing about.
Unfortunately I think football was lost a while back, it's not sustainable as it is and the direction it's travelling in is alarming to say the least.

It's shit but it's also what would happen.
You're saying we would have to just accept it?
Ah yes of course. Let just accept beheadings for gay people, women not allowed to speak, labourers dying in the heat, people pushed off buildings etc
Let's just accept it cos nothing we can do hey.
I wouldn't want you on my side during the revolution.
Won't be a popular thing to say but everton fans don't like Newcastle and West ham and others of similar standing and they don't like us because we've been arguing for the scraps of who's bigger in a period we've all become pretty irrelevant

Yeah sorry but with ill health and family that comes before anything I'm not fighting anyone's side in any revolution. The world turns and we turn with it, mainly because we have no say in the matter.
If we ever got bought by someone like the PIF I'd complain about it and be unhappy about the whole thing, but I'd still support the team because the other alternative is to walk away and do what? Support a different team? Stop watching football?
What are you currently doing to fight the Saudi regime out of interest, because I'm sure you wouldn't only fight it if it directly affected our club?

Essentially what it boils down to. Pretty sure if Newcastle were still owned by Ashley and they'd won the Caraboa Cup there'd be this same thread just with different reasons behind it.

Why are you boiling it down to this?
I'd wager that's what the whole city is like. "What can we do about it?" "Your club would be the same" "What about the likes of Man City and PSG though?" "The PL don't let us spend money anyway" All whilst gleefully revelling in the Saudi success and being in denial about selling their souls to the devil.
They're happy the Saudis own them. We know how unhappy fans act towards owners of their club and we see none of that behavior from Newcastle fans.
