Re: Pre-season (Match Threads Here)
How is Hackney/Armstrong faring so far?
I know we’re all worried about that duo getting bullied in the PL but I have to imagine it’s quite nice watching a double pivot with two players who like to take the ball on the half-turn and try to move it forward.

Re: Pre-season (Match Threads Here)
Hackney is playing in the 6 and feeding it into Armstrong a fair bit, in the 8. Seems to be a nice combination between the two. Armstrong keeps making intelligent little runs to give himself 5 yards of space to receive the ball in, and Hackney fizzes it into him nice and sharp.

The passes between the line are lovely.kramer wrote:How is Hackney/Armstrong faring so far?

Hackney is definitely the one sitting/dropping between the CBs with Armstrong joining the attack and even running beyond Barry at times.
Seems like a three when we’re in position with Armstrong and KDH as dual eights and then Armstrong drops to make a double pivot out of possession

Hackney’s going to end up being the most important player we’ve signed, isn’t he?Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 2:49 pm Hackney is playing in the 6 and feeding it into Armstrong a fair bit, in the 8. Seems like a bit of a machine at breaking lines.

Re: Pre-season (Match Threads Here)
It's definitely nice to have a couple of players able to play the ball into midfield, and into feet, repeatedly. Branthwaite's been doing it nicely as ever.

Re: Pre-season (Match Threads Here)
Feels like we’re only signing Grealish if Ndiaye goes.
We’d be robbing time off George and Dibling otherwise.
I think I might rather just keep Ndiaye though.

I haven't been able to get the streams to work on my phone.
Those who have, can you tell me? Are we going to win the fucking lot, or not?

Happy with what I'm seeing so far
Dibling looks full of confidence.
