His all round play is looking a lot better as well.

Hoping his form continues. Love him as a human. Want him to do great. But small sample size and all that.

There's 11 games left of the season.

Hypothetically, If he scores another 4 that puts him on a very respectable 10 for the season. But that means he goes at least 7 games without any goals, and probably misses 15+ chances.

Are you going to judge him on the goals he scores or the chances he misses?

Sorry, dear Andy, the post wasn’t about Dyche, it was about you. You could describe your mental gymnastics to defend Dyche seemed a bit bizarre but at the same time, tremendously loyal and tireless.

I’m also just wondering if you are starting to notice similarities in this thread and the Dyche one.

I'm not really sure what you're on about tbh, if you think I'm using mental gymnastics to criticise Beto for missing 3 one on ones then I'm not sure there's much I can say.

I'm just watching a replay of the Brentford game and just seen the knock down from O'Brien in front of goal for Beto that he completely missed and that might be worse than any of the 3 one on ones he messed up.

Actually did I misunderstand what you were saying and you were saying when people are loyal to a player / manager they find justification for it even if others disagree... I.e. I should understand people's loyalty to Beto because of my previous loyalty to Dyche?

If it's that I totally understand your point and it's a fair one. If not I'm a bit confused so hoping I've understood now?

Yeah not sure either, I've given Beto plenty of praise the last couple of weeks though so I don't think that's a particularly valid point if so. He's definitely not as shit as he looked under Dyche, my opinion of him has definitely changed since he's come in to the team.

If he does score 4 more goals, he’ll be the first Everton player since Richarlison in the 2021-22 season* to hit double figures.

Will also have as many goals in 30 games as Calvert-Lewin in the last 55 games…probably would have started less too.

Was surprised a little by the comments in the match thread about him. When I got a chance to watch the game (delayed) while yes you want him to score, I was expecting his performance to be really bad but I thought he did a lot right to get those chances. If he keeps on doing that chances are he could score a lot more this season.

I think if Broja had come back from injury and put in these recent performances we’d be excited to sign him.

Same with Chermiti. We’d be really excited by him.

But beto did cost £25m so he’ll be judged more harshly which is fair but it’s easy to forget he’s still pretty inexperienced in the professional game.

Which is "sunk cost fallacy" in action. The fee has been paid, it is not contingent on our judgment of worth.

25m for a plug and play, rotational striker? That's fucking peanuts.
