While we are trying to plug multiple gaps in the team with 50m, Brighton just signed a teenage defender from Spurs for 46M
They also sold a defender for 52m
So they’ve made £2m profit so far on their CB transfers…

Brighton haven't been in PSR trouble in recent years and they've just sold Van Hecke for 50 odd million.
We're still operating under financial restraints.

Not convinced by that argument, Serie A is a retirement home for 30+ year old strikers.
Players like Dzecko, Quagliarella and Immobile topped the scoring charts fairly recently.
Not sure where you've got that from?

My fairly recently is the last 10 years lol
Time flies!
Dzecko 2016/2017
Quagliarella 2018/2019
But yeah if you selectively take the last 5 years then the age has come down a bit

6 goal contributions in 81 matches across 3 seasons, 1 at Millwall and 2 at Genoa.
So I think this guy must tick the defensive full back profile we seem to be looking at.
Price and age profiles are good though, and height also decent so can see why we'd be interested.

Always tough to figure out what type of player any defender is since stats can’t really tell you properly about that side of the game but Norton-Cuffy kind of sounds like Spence from what I can gather.
Big, athletic, lots of energy, questionable positioning off the ball, poor attacking output.
Fee would be closer to what you’d pay for Wan-Bissaka, wages will probably be the cheapest of the players we’ve been linked with. Still young with room to become a better defender and attacker.
Don’t mind it all as long as we’re confident enough that he’s a refined enough defender for Moyes to actually play him. Even if he ends up only being a pacy unit who can play all the quick one-twos and passes around the corner that you’d expect from a competent fullback, that still makes us a much better team. JOB’s usage of the ball in those areas is debilitating in the build-up (which makes sense because he’s a centre back being played out of position).

I watched BNC in the U21 Euros last summer (at least I think it was last summer) and he was very attack minded, pacey, good on the ball. I didn't think he had much to do defensively but he impressed me going forward.

Hasn’t proven it in first team football yet but the tools are clearly there. Maybe pairing him with someone like Dibling who can hold the ball under pressure and open lots of space for him to play in could help unlock his potential.
He seems to be in the middle of the Venn diagram for cost, age profile, and playing style. Could see this one coming off.

Are goal contributions goals and assists or include pre-assists? Just having a pacy overlapping fullback who can give and go to Ndaiye/Dibbo will make a massive difference.
Pienaar had low assist numbers, but that was because it was the combination with Baines, who then whipped in crosses etc.

Someone like him and the midfield general we are linking with and suddenly it’s a strong window!
No reason not to use up our loan spots too, Grelish perhaps being one of them
Throw a free be in there (stones for example), shift a couple of people on (Patterson and McNeil spring to mind) and we can claim an all round success!
