Dwight McNeil
Re: Dwight McNeil
Actually, he’s middle of the pack as far as chance creation.
Poor all-around passer but when you play on the shoulder of the last defender and find space in behind, you inevitably end up with easy opportunities to square it or cut it back to make a big chance.
This is probably the last moment you’d want to acquire him but I could see it for us.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He's not great, but beyond that, we all know Moyes will value his experience over the likes of George, I also think the links with wingers indicates Moyes desire to move Dibling on - which is a travesty
Re: Dwight McNeil
I doubt it'd happen, but if it was George on one wing and Johnson on the other we'd suddenly have bags of pace out wide, and both are very direct with the ability to shoot.
Would allow us to play quick transitions out wide to counter effectively, and they wouldn't necessarily need loads of support as they provide a goal threat themselves.
Not saying it's dream land stuff, but could be quite entertaining.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Decent lad off the pitch by all accounts. Been a bit of a let down last few seasons for Wales. Personally I’d swerve
Re: Dwight McNeil
Palace fans are pointing out that the players are represented by the same agency (Unique Sports Group), who represent lots (most?) of their transfers from the last 18 months.
Re: Dwight McNeil
He needs to go, but if I were DMAC, I'd tell Pallace to get stuffed after that shit they pulled on him last season.
Re: Dwight McNeil
I'd take Magic, Michael. Dwayne or even Boris Johnson in swap if it meant I didnt have to see McNeil play for us again.
Re: Dwight McNeil
This is what most people are thinking though. Let's forget about it being a swap with McNeil and this is just a transfer on its own, most people would be very disappointed.
There appears to be a parallel universe where people see this as being good, just cause we're getting rid of McNeil.
Re: Dwight McNeil
If Palace stumped up £20m, and let Johnson leave for say £27m we'd effectively be paying £7m for Johnson.Raptor wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2026 6:30 am This is what most people are thinking though. Could that £27m be spent better elsewhere? Maybe. However it might be a case of for us to receive the £20m for McNeil we need to take someone off them to balance their books... and in that situation we would definitely be getting the better deal.
Re: Dwight McNeil
In no world where we end up with Brennan Johnson just to get rid of McNeil would we get a good deal. He’s bang average, we’d be standing still wouldn’t be oh the team has improved.
18 games for Palace
1 assist
64% pass success
To be fair he did score 2 goals for Tottenham in 606 minutes in the league and managed a 70% pass success rate.
But it’s not someone to move the needle. Why do we have to accept meh players and convince ourselves it’ll be a good deal.
McNeil also managed 1 assist and 81% pass success

Re: Dwight McNeil
Thing is though, the stats you've listed don't include his mega season for Spurs.PoD1878 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2026 7:08 am In no world where we end up with Brennan Johnson just to get rid of McNeil would we get a good deal. Now would we be able to get that level out of him again? It's an unknown, but that level, if we could, is infinitely better than anything McNeil is likely to produce for us.
It wouldn't definitely move the needle, although it has the potential to, and also gives us some much needed pace in the team, which in itself makes us better.
It's probably a gamble, but if it's a £5m - £7m gamble then it's one I'd be willing to take personally.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Do I think Johnson is worth 7m and McNeil, no I don't. Just cause we don't watch shit stink the place out every week it doesn't mean it'll be better than the shit we do watch stink it out.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2026 6:38 am If Palace stumped up £20m, and let Johnson leave for say £27m we'd effectively be paying £7m for Johnson.

If the only deals on offer were to sell McNeil for 12/15m straight up, or give Palace 7m and McNeil for Johnson I'm 100% taking the former
