Genuinely baffles me that anyone could blame Spence for the DR Congo goal.
There's multiple players out of position before he then has to leave his man to cover the central attacker. He doesn't wander out of position, he has to try and cover everyone else's mistakes.
If he didn't leave his man and just left the unmarked attacker, and that player had a free header everyone would be screaming murder at him for not covering.
Anderson is the one that creates the domino effect by being out of position initially, then the CBs fail to adapt quickly enough, and suddenly there's a completely free attacker in the middle of the box and a cross heading right for him.
He's probably the only one in that sequence of events who has no blame for the subsequent goal.
For the goal he played his part, just like Picks did, but as you alluded too there were others that were more culpable. However, his general play against them was poor, and he was pulled apart by a second division player more than once, to the point he had to get substituted so our best defensive midfielder could take over for him at right back. This was one of the substitution that transformed the game as we actually had a player that could cross the ball at right back.

The goal against DR Congo is a reflection of a disjointed unfamiliar defensive combo of players, cant judge him on that.

People turning their noses up at Spence really need to reflect on watching JOB play there the last 18 months.
It's the equivalent of turning your nose up at a warm Gregg's sausage roll when you normally eat out of the bins, saying you want steak and chips instead.
Maybe weve got money to be able to choose though. Better than what weve got is not a good system

We've already spent approx £60m on Rohl, Hackney and George, so I find it hard to believe we have money for someone like Doue for example who'd cost around £35m - £40m.
I'd imagine we'd either be looking at Spence for around £20m plus add ons, or much more likely a loan with obligation to buy.

He doesn't excite. Hes decent enough but at some point we've got to find some players if we actually want to take strides. He strikes me as okay and safe

Have there been any suggestions as to what a potential fee looks like for Spence?
If Spurs are looking for a relatively big fee, I’d rather spend it on Doue or save money on an older option like Wan-Bissaka or Maitland-Niles. Can’t be bothered fueling their spending rampage any further for a player at peak age whose best assist tally in a season is 4 (in a 40+ game Championship season).
Wan-Bissaka is considered a poor attacking fullback and yet has hit that mark in the PL multiple times.

Just confirming by Doue we mean Guela Doué the Ivory Coast and Strasbourg player and not Desire Doué the PSG player and France international haha?

Why is it, this image indicates its a pretty fair comparison?
All 3 of them are woeful going forwards, with comparable defensive qualities. They all fit really well into the Moyes mould off defending well first, offering nothing going forward. The only real difference is speed, but in terms of what they will offer the team, I see it as being quite comparable.
If we want a defender that can defend ok, with emphasis on ok, (when you consider Spence got ruined by the Spanish second division player Brian Cipenga at the world cup), then any of them will do. But if the difference is circa 20m between AWB and Spence then we'd be absolutely insane going after the latter
If Mykolenko is offering more in the final third than anyone we shouldn't even be giving them the time of day.

We do, but they’re brothers I think

Yes, the one that is a right back / someone we could feasibly sign with enough money in our budget.

Feels like we’re always making good pitches to exciting players before ultimately missing out.
Should make a godfather offer for Leverkusen’s scouting team / setup. Maybe it’s just that much easier to adapt to the Bundesliga but they keep finding quality forward prospects.
Edit: I think I’m mixing Leverkusen up with Eintracht Frankfurt as far as forward talent.

David Moyes “loves” the young striker and can’t wait to ruin his career by repeatedly asking him to win contested headers and run the channels for aimless long balls.

Why just buy one, let's get them both in!
