Digne turns 33 this summer, if that's who you were talking about there.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 1:17 pm I dont hate it either but we never hated it previously until we paid the price for it. I think on loan would be good but we really don't want to be giving a 31 year old full back 3 or 4 years at 6m plus a year
Loved him when he was here, probably shouldn't have been sold, but not the right choice for us now.

Re: January Transfer Window
Is he. I did look thought it said he was 31. Nothing wrong with signing an older player but the contract has to make sense. Hes on too much money for anything long term.blueToffee wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 3:08 pm Digne turns 33 this summer, if that's who you were talking about there.

We love a "bring an ex player back" shout!
Although we did it with a former manager every fucking year and look what happened there.

Yeah, he's July 20, 1993 per Google.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 5:15 pm Is he. I did look thought it said he was 31. Nothing wrong with signing an older player but the contract has to make sense. Hes on too much money for anything long term.
Otherwise sure, I think I said earlier in the thread I'd take Lukaku back when there were some mild rumours around him.
Seeing as I think Grealish could well be here next year, I'd just be worried about a combo of Digne and Grealish as that feels a little lacking in pace.

Re: January Transfer Window
Surely there’s too much bad blood for Digne to come back?
Objectively though he’s much better than Mykolenko even at his age and every signing doesn’t have to be a ‘young promising talent’. Some experienced older players are essential. The finances probably don’t work also though.

Re: January Transfer Window
Can we not just find someone who hasn't played for us before and isn't old?

I think the bad blood was just between Digne and Rafa wasn’t it?Bornblue88 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 11:49 pm Surely there’s too much bad blood for Digne to come back?

And virtually the entire fanbase was on Dignes side and cheered him that first game when Villa came to Goodison just after Rafa had been sacked
I’d definitely take him but I don’t think there’s anything in the rumour

playing for his final big payday moveTrowel wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 1:35 pm I wouldn't mind him as a squad player, but Wilson thrives as a big fish in a small pond player, which is why he's always looked good playing for Wales and in the last couple of seasons for Fulham. He's 29 in a few weeks' time, and he'd be expecting to start every game - maybe he'll bloom in his later years like Modric?
his contract runs out in 6mths at fulham
when he moves on a big fat contract he may well down tools and revert to one goal every few mths and disappear in games
just sayin
